Nah, i totaly don't want that to happen.
Ah, how stupid can people be. I'm hearing things such as "Items use to be worth something". Now they're cheaper... That means gold is worth more, and the items are worth less... that's Helping the economy, not destroying it morons. And as soon as these items are all over the place, their prices will lower even farther...
Besides the fact that green items are just collectors items with special names...
Now, i'm hearing how skills being more expensive are ruining the economy too? What?! Seriously... i know their from young people and all... but is this how bad schooling systems are these days? It's a gold sink guys! That means the gold is dissapearing, and it's Helping the economy.
100 gold for adding guild members in... That's bad? That's nothing! They added gold to the quests of ascalon area's that i noticed, that's right... 200 gold for a piss ant job of killing 5 creatures (Except the quest is bugged and each one was counted as two, so i only had to kill 3.)
Chests i've been hearing mixed feelings... Both ways it sounds stupid. One way i hear that the keys are too expensive and they added it for no reason... just to piss people off and take our money. The other way i hear that the keys are making people too much money, since people are selling un-identified items for twice as much as the key...
Just to clear this up. Keys are a gamble. More then not, people aren't going to pay that much for half the things that drop, sure sometimes you get lucky, and most of the times you don't. Keys, too expensive? I don't know about that... it's a gamble, and with this gamble you're spending money to perhaps get a good items you can sell, perhaps unlock something for your account, or a good item you can use. A gamble is a gamble, why do people gamble in real life at casino's... because you can, the house wins more then not, but the lucky breaks are normaly quite nice... same here.
Not only do the keys have a chance of unlocking items for pvp characters, and making money. But, they also block out a great deal of bots, which are now going to be coded for other purposes... "Farming bosses for green items perhaps?" Ah, who cares, either way, it helps guild wars, and helps the economy, bottom line.
--I'm not open to what you think will happen to the economy, i know the economy will more then likely fall after a long enough period... But, the way the economy was spiking down (With items worth 300k) things like this help a great deal. Good job anet.
--Suggestion, quit complaining about things that havent taken effect yet. If you don't know what it will do to the economy then you're sadly mistaken. The way things "should" work, is alot different then you being pissed now that you can't solo farm uw, and won't be able to sell your perfect items for crap loads of gold for long. The only items i see staying expensive are the rare items, and well... rare items diserve high prices... not things you can easily get from collectors (Which i don't know why more people didnt use..., personaly i think it's why the green items have been introduced) ... (Collectors items for those that are farther in the game... makes sense really, especially since most damage comes from you're skill set and not your weapon)
"Get the green items out"?!

The question is, how are they helping the economy?
To put things simply, they made things easier. It's easier to get the best, because there is more of the best to go around. With the gold supply remaining fairly constant, an increase in "good stuff" means that the gold is worth less in comparison.

This is exactly the kinds of things I've been thinking and trying to tell people. The economy will and SHOULD be affected by this update, which is obviously the purpose, considering the changes made.
I'm not complete happy with the keys/chest thing, but not for the reason everyone else seems to mention. My issue is that items that drop don't belong in thier color range. I'd like to see them fix some of the items so they don't show up as being more "rare" than they actually are. Gold items should have more or better mods than the other weapons. Yet I've seen gold items that absolutely suck. 1 mod golds, with a crappy mod. To me, that's like gambling twice. I'm gambling to get a gold item, and I'm gambling that it'll actually be any good. I don't like those kinds of odds.
Make each colored item worth thier color, and adjust thier drop rates accordingly. Then I won't mind the keys at all.
