I have Spent the past 5 days in Sorrows Furnace. The first night it opened was amazing. Every chest was gold items, every boss had green weapons for someone in the group. After 5 days the chests have gone to purple / white items (not worth the price of the key) and the bosses are no longer droping any green items.

Am i playing Sorrows too much? If i play another area will things get better, or is this linked to my account and you can only get so many good drops before your player or account gets nerfed? Im going to try take a new player into sorrows and see if the same thing happens to him. Im just wondering if its my account that gets nurfed or just the player.

So if i go buy a new account, the drops should be good for awhile, untill it reaches its saturation point, then its all purple white drops ?

Anet discourages farming. What they do is if you play a particular area too much, like more than twice/thrice, the drops get progressively worse. So from Green/Gold, you end up with purple and then blue/white.

I believe this is by account, so using another character in the same account won't help unless you play a different area.

MaglorD - actually ANet don't have anything against players farming as such. What they have a problem with is bot farming - this is why drops reduce in quality and quantity the more often you hit the same area/chests/monsters.

Wrath of m0o - you've probably just hit a scripting to reduce drops because your farming SF/GF so much. just go elsewhere for a time and go back and the drops should be more that likely back to normal.

It is linked to your account, but it's a time thingy - ie if you go and say spend a day farming the desert then go back to SF/GF it should be back to normal.

at least thats how I believe the system works.. or something similar to that.

The best way to farm for items in general is to find at least 5-10 different places to obtain items (whether it be chest locations, certain explorable areas, specific monsters, certain missions) or whatever and then cycle through doing every one a couple times each.

Yeah, but they keep Nurf'n the best Pharm spots. No more Tengu Pharm'n..They killed it. Anyway I got Dragos Bow in Sorrows and someone was nice enough to trade me a Tanzit Razorstone for it, on my birthday. How @#$%ing Cool is that !

These bot farmers could easily write a program to move their characters to different farming areas and thus workaround such scripting...so not sure how effective it is.

So I could cycle through 3 zones worth of farming with 1 character, then 3 zones with a 2nd character, and on my 7th instance I could be back where I started with no anti-farm code kicking in? Anyone verify or at least point out the tell-tale signs that it is in effect that I might test it a bit myself?
