More specific problems. Are you not healing for enough? Are you running short on energy? Do your teammates die before you can even click a skill?

whats bugging you...and erm...when you get to Yak's...take 2 healers...you need it

One healer is MORE than fine at Yaks, believe me, as long as you are half decent. Actually, I prefer taking one healer and a blood necro if I'm really needing healing power, which isn't often.

Anyways, what skills/level/att point distribution do you have? I mean, that's kind of important.

A good idea for Yaks is to stay away from helaing breeze in area's with stone stummit, since they'll shatter it. You're better off going orison/reversal and such. Since you don't have many good heals yet, you get them in LA, try and use a lot of small 5 energy heals before your team actually gets hurt (but don't waste healing). I'd say, in yaks, just keep people above 66% or so at all times and you'll never have a problem...

When I started my monk, I dumped everything I had into Divine Favor and Healing Prayers. At first I was using Divine Boon but I found it drained my energy too quickly. The 4 pips of energy regen was enough to keep the party alive.

its hard to be a good monk in the beginning of the game because not all the skills r avilable to you, although since its an easier part of the game it all evens out if u hve some experience, id suggest to just keep working at it and have a halfway decent grouping of skills for that part of the game. What skills are u using right now?

note as an attacker your usually looking at the enemys and attacking them. Your job as a monk is to forget the offensive part of the battle and keep your eyes on those red bars. If u start taking damage, thats whan u look around to see whats attacking u and try and get away or just heal yourself. Also never just pin on on one section cause one guy is taking a lot of damage. Most likely the guy at the bottom where you dont have as much attention could be also getting attacked. Although i dont think happens as much in the beginning parts of the game.

Although whatever happens and if someone says you suck just ignore them. Its probally atleast half there fault.

A big thing that helped me learn to heal was to assign hotkeys to target my party members. I used the num pad and it helped me learn to "monk". I play protection and not healing though, so it might be different for you.

I agree it is hard as you haven't unlocked some of the skills yet and the choice of healing skills is limited. What skills are you using?

Also, as a healer focus on healing and let the team dish out the damage. Remove any offensive skills from your bar and bring healing and a defensive skill for yourself. Perhaps the bane signet if you don't have enough healing spells to fill your bar, as it doesn't cost anything. Attack spells just take time and energy that you don't need to spend. Yes, you may feel useless on occasion when there's only a couple of critters to fight but you will more than make up for it when it counts.

You may even need to examine what you are wielding and try to maximize its usefulness. Its better at this point to use items that maximize energy, grant a +XX% boost, or have XX% chance of fast recharge, even if it means a wand that only does 3-4 points of damage.

Energy is important and hard to manage. Don't over-heal, as in heal someone for 100 points when they are only down 10%. Don't run any enchantments as you can't afford it yet. If you start out with Boon running, be prepared to cancel it when your energy is getting low. Call your energy when running out (ctrl + click on energy bar) as a note to the team that they need to start healing themselves until you get some energy back and also at the end of the fight so they wait for you to recharge.

Let the rest of the team do the fighting, including the calling of targets. Ask them to stay close, since if you have to run back and forth to cast a heal it wastes time. When you are attacked and feel threatened, target that monster and call it and let the team know that is their signal to come rescue you. Also, if a warrior continually gets pounded, ask if he's always using Frenzy and tell him to stop when he's taking damage. If he continues, let him die in 3 seconds and maybe he'll get the idea.

Don't assume the team knows these things (or whatever "tools" you wish to use for communicating), explain it to them at the start of the mission.

[edit] One more thought! If you have Wa/Mo's or something similar on your team ask them to help by keeping Succor on you to give you and extra pip of energy regen. If I remember correctly you get it at the Ice Caves outside of Frost Gate.
