Message to Arenanet; calling on all forum lurkers to post
Arkayne
Arenanet: I know you guys read the forums frequently. I also read the forums frequently but rarely post, so I want to represent the people too busy playing the game to post comments. I just wanted to send a message out to let you guys know what a fantastic direction the latest update has taken the game in. You guys hear all kinds of critisism both bad and good, but for the most part only the people who are upset will post. I'm sure you are aware of this, however I just wanted to acknowledge that you truely listen to the community take the game in the proper direction. The latest features and changes are welcomed and breaths new life into the game. Not to say there isn't many, many features and whatnot that I would like to see in the future, but in the meantime, keep up the good work.
Ekpyrotic
I'd also like to say thank you, and although there are some suggestions for the future this is not a time to state them but this thread is to represent that I really do love all the work that you have done - and keep it up.
I really hope this thread won't be spammed by the people with negative issues, I'm not saying that suggestion are bad but let's make this the thanking thread.
Thanks again,
Serren

Good idea for a thread. I think ArenaNet have done a stellar job on the summer update. Not only have they introduced some of the most fun missions in the game, but they have completely overhauled the system of obtaining loot, which is a brilliantly fun gamble and a great gold sink.
PvE aside, they have also done a great job with PvP. The rebalancing of the skills has opened up the game somewhat, even with all the smiting going on. The faction rewards are nigh on perfect now, and I can usually unlock 2-3 things for every evening of play.
Considering that this game is free to play after the initial payment, I cannot believe how well they have supported it, and I don't think a game has ever kept my attention for this long before. Unless you play games pretty much all day every day I really cannot see why ANYONE would volunteer to pay for any other MMORPG...

Thank you, ANet, for the increased drops. For PvE players like myself this will make unlocking things so much easier.

The Sorrows update is fantastic. Graphically the areas are gorgeous, and the quests funny - I've been enjoying it immensely!
My only concern is the difficulty of finding a good group for Sorrows when I can't form a guildie group, but I guess it's not in ANet's powers to upgrade the IQ of the average GW player .

Also here to say thank you Anet, the new update rocks. the furnace, the creative quests, the increased drops, the green stuff...
GoldToof
I agree that the update was well worth the wait. Dispite threads upon threads of complaints i think that Anet has done an exceptional job in keeping its gamers interests in mind during the updates. Pleasing everyone is nearly impossible, but they have done a good job of pleasing most. Keep up the good work, and i will be dreaming of the expansion.

shinsei do you work? if you do and in the possibility that you deal with customers or other people when they ask something of you or when your boss "asks" something from you and you deliver doesn't he normally say "thank you"... it's called being polite... and it goes a long way. I believe that if the developers at A.Net even hear or see this thread they won't make a big deal about it... and that is not the point, but i do believe that they will smile even if for just a few seconds and then move on... the OP didn't start this with the idea to lick ass or get some special recognition or favor... he did it to be polite... because there is no other way to say "thank you" to A.Net.
after that...
Thank you A.Net
after that...
Thank you A.Net

End this argument here like I said this is the thanking thread
Arkayne
Hey guys, just wanted to jump in and try to avoid this from turning into a complain/argument thread.
I'm sure there are many of you who have complaints, but this is the thread for those who seldom post, to share that they like the update.
I choose to thank them, becase they are obviously trying very hard to make this game enjoyable to their customers. And the reason I believe they deserve this thanks, is because it does not cost money to play. Why should they care to keep people around once they have paid their money? Less people playing = lower server bandwidth = cheaper for them. They have our money. However this company continues to work hard to keep their customers happy. This is why I applaud them.

ArenaNet:
Excellent job on the various tweaks and free add-ons. I stopped playing a few months ago when I got into Battlefield 2, and I told myself that I would come back and see how the game is after the Sorrow's Furnace update. So far I love it.
~no more attribute refund points! (probably my fav change, as I love to tweak my toons)
~huge ID/Salvage kits!
~weird new items and item types!
~incredible artwork in the new areas!
~the chest system is just cool.... no more fighting your way to some chest surrounded by 50 ice imps, only to have the chest drop a bunch of garbage.

Before this becomes too much of a flame fest I'll put my .02 in as well. I too am among the legion of lurkers who hardly post. I must say I love the update! Though I haven't been playing for too long, I found my interest in some of the aspects of the game waning, but now feel a renewed interest in the game. I'm loving the game now as much as when I first purchased it. Anet deffinetly deserves some massive credit for this great game and for releasing such a great update so early on, that's quite an accomplishment for any company. Great job on all of your hard work!
TGgold
I'd like to thank ANet for keeping with this game. This is my thankyou after purchase for CONTINUING to do well, so *thumbs up*.

Who cares about changes that need to be made....that has nothing to do with this specific update
This update is amazing, and brought the game up to where it should have been upon release. Everyone knows there are many changes that would make the game better, but this is a step in the right direction for everything.

Basically my point exactly. The game might need some changes still, but it's a step in the right direction. Just wanted to let A.net know that there are people who agree with the direction the game is going.

surprise..somehow most of the people like it and are having fun playing and some of us simply wish to say thank you for giving us a fun game to play.
THANK YOU ANET/NCSoft for the fun
and being satisfied i have put in a preorder for chapter 2 already

This is a discussion forum, thus suggesting people should discuss things, I personally am really happy with the update and hope there is more of the same to come, but none of you really have any right to tell people not to voice their opinions just because you don't agree with it.
Mariena Feladon
Thank you, A.net!
.. what did I just type here? Oh, nothing, I'm just wasting bandwith like the rest of you
If you really want to do A.net a favor, buy their expansion pack.

This thread deserves a sticky. Keep the positive vibe bumping
Arkayne
You people are right, that a discussion forum is open to 'discussion'. However for a forum to work, the threads should remain on topic. For example, if this were a "discuss the recent changes" then everyone should post whether they like the update or not. But when the idea of the thread was "post what you liked about the update" then it seems talking about the negative aspects are a little off-topic. I don't want to discredit you people with concerns, but there are plenty of other threads to post your opinion in, leave this one for the intended reason please.

Yes, thank you ArenaNet for a great update. I particularly enjoy the increased PvP rewards. It makes my Random Arena experience so much more rewarding.
Keep up the great work! You guys seem to get a lot of criticism because the game is already really well-made and everyone wants it to be just that little bit better. It's nice to see that the SF update shows you guys want to make it as good as possible too!

Mmm, powers that be have done a fab job with the update, although turning Lions Arch int into hysTYRIA (oh I do kill myself sometimes) was a bit much fun I haven't played much because my pc exploded on friday morning but what I have seen (the 4 initial quests into sf) was pretty awesome. The chorus of Oooooooooh and Aaaaaaah on comms was enough to say it all. The area's pretty spectacular to look at, to say the least. Possibly thinking about upgrading my graphics card to get the most out of it, and in time for the expansion next year. The music's absolutely awesome too.. Soule's done an amazing job with it and it suits the area well. Good to play guild wars to
*flag waving for 15k tormentors though*

I also enjoy the new changes and areas. It's tough to try and keep the majority pleased with changes and what not and I believe Anet is doing a great job walking that tight rope to retain our loyalty and business. I for one enjoy the game thoroughly and would like to thank Anet for a job well done.
Charrbane
I too think they did an awesome job on this update. Although I haven't fully explored the Furnace area itself I really like what they gave us in the Summer Update not to mention the changes to the chests and others bits. Awesome job and thanks for the Free update. It certainly is greatly appreciated.

Erm...
Everyone...
How about we just ignore the negative posts that appear in this thread?
Those people who post something negative will expect someone to reply back, so imagine the dissapointed look on their faces if there is totaly no replies to their 'negative' post.
It takes 2 hands for a clap to make a sound.
Anyway,
Thank you ANET for this update.
Thumbs up!
Keep it going!
Gambate!
Cheers!

Thankyou's from company to customer, or employee to employer can go a long way, yes. But thankyou's from customer to company, or employer to employee mean close to nothing. Your employee isn't doing you a favor, you're doing him one. You can always find someone else. The company you're purchasing products from isn't doing you a favor either. You're doing them one, and you could easily find another product aswell (unless we're talking about a monopoly, which isn't the case). |
A company can choose, in certain respects, to abuse it's comstomers.
Time Werner does it, Verizon does it, Microsoft does it, E-games does it, I can keep rattling them off all day.
Areanet does not choose to abuse it's costomers.
For that I feel they deserve praise.
And whether or not we paid for the services we are being rendered, if done well, they deserve thanks.
I thank my waitress when she brings me my food. I thank her when she refills my coffee cup, and I thank Areanet when they give me a damn fine update.
This is courtesy, and the grease in the wheels of a working community.
Criticizing people for thanking Areanet for the quality of the service we paid for is not the purpose of this thread.
kirgr526
Congratulations, Anet, on a masterful update. Now if chapter two continues this level of quality, I think I may be turned into a jibbering mess for good reasons
Anyway, come on 5pm, only 4 hours to go and I can leave work and go to Sorrows Furnace again.

Okay, I'll give up my lurking to post my thank you to Anet for this great game and the summer update. And to respond to the quote above.
I work in customer service and when a customer takes the time to ask for a supervisor to pass along a compliment to either a rep or our company, I am happy to take the time to listen. The compliments go up the food chain and back down to recognize great service in front of peers.
While we certainly take the complaints seriously and act on them, it's a lot nicer(and more rare) to get a thank you or an "atta boy".
So, thanks again.

Excellent, I knew there were lurkers out there who are having a blast playing the game. Just kind of depressing to see all the complaints posted
