I've got this bow:
Sundering Short Bow of Marksmanship (Gold)
Piercing Dmg. 15-28 (req 8 Marksmanship)
Damage +15% (health less then 50%)
10% Armor Penetration (10% chance)
Marksmanship +1 (18% chance when using skills)
Two-Handed
Now, I understand it's not perfect, the hlth<50% aint great and the marksmanship isn't perfect but I've seen perfect sundering strings go for 70k and up. I can't salvage it without risking destroying the bowstring.
I know the bowstring is worth more because you can add it to whatever you want but I can't get a bid higher than 5k for this bow. People can replace the marksmanship grip.
Is it the shortbow?
Why can't I get a decent price for this and/or what are your suggestions on what I do with it?
Got a question on why this excellent bow is worthless

It's not bad... but many people are realizing that sundering bowstrings tend to suck. Spread across a long period of time it averages 1% armor penetration and is eclipsed by other mods such as vamp strings.
That's my theory, anyway.

the 15%<50% is absolute crap IMO. 20%<50% is the best, so 15% just doesnt cut it. anyone who buys it would just try to salvage the string. most people would rather get a 15>50 collectors bow, than a supbar 15<50, even if it looks a little better. if it was me i would salvage it

If its any consolation, I've found that bowstrings salvage much more frequently than grips (I haven't tested this empirically, just my experience).

this is one of the occasions where salvaging is not a terrible idea.
ill break it down to where you can decide for yourself.
now, if you wait long enough i can almsot guerentee you'll sell the bow for 5-10k, either to some guy who wants to chance it and salvage the 10:10 or to some guy who either needs a bow better than a 14-21 dmg white bow, for his brand-new ranger, and doesnt quite grasp the concept that 15<50% is compartitively useless.
you have an overall 60% chance to salvage A mod using an advanced salvage kit (i assume you know this stuff, but i love to beat a dead horse), and since you ahve 2 mods a 50/50 chance to get either one. so overall you have a 30% chance to get the 10:10. now it does seem to be true in heinsight that strings tend to salvage a bid more, but you can sell an 18% + mark bowgrip for about 3-5k. so ask yourself; is a 70/30 chance worth gambling on a 70-85k potential profit? id say it is.
so bite your tounge and hope for the 30% draw on a 10:10; a 75-90k item.
good luck.

Thank you guys so much, I salvaged and got the string. Once again, thanks for the help.
