how to GET gold?

My question is how to GET gold by yourself, not get gold from others. People have hundreds of k's and some millions. How do you literally GET the gold? Monsters drop 100+ gold around the areas ive been to. White/Blue items sell for too.

So is there some place to get GOLD itself? I heard that winning HOH gives you gold / items?

What about UW... i havent been there. Does it drop good gold or something that you sell for high gold?

People are paying alot these days for items .. hundreds of k's.. wheres all the gold coming from? :\

You can also eventually realise that you don't NEED a lot of gold to really enjoy this game. The people who are paying tens or hundreds of platinum for supposedly 'godly' items are people who probably just enjoy having the 'best' the game can offer, yet these best items aren't necessarily much better than items you can pick up from collectors scattered around the PvE world.

And armor? Unless you have your heart dead-set on Fissure armor (which costs about 15k for each armor piece), you should have plenty of money by the time you reach Droknar's Forge to buy top-level armor.

Interesting topic, but, truly, the only way to get huge amounts of gold is from other players, to my experience. Selling, running them, perhaps doing some other service, like questing, ect, is a good way to get yourself some gold. There is no area, to my humble experience, which drops insane amounts of gold in PvE format - sorry...

It is interesting to hear about the PvP HoH victory prizes, which is an inscentive enough for me, which I believe can just as well be attained by using a PvP character, sprucing him/her up a bit with unlocked goodies, and just having good amounts of skill.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

And, lastly, a small correction...
15k armor is NOT equal to Fissure armor. What you have in mind is the slightly more "show-offy" 15k armor, as it is accuratly called, that can be gotten from M.'s Grotto or Granite Citidel. Now FISSURE armor is another story, sometimes costing as much as a Million gold for a complete set, being dragged up by (now falling) ecto and shard prices. A single piece requires about 60 of each, I believe, meaning you pay:

Original Price: 15k
+ Material Prc.: ~15k (or so; not up to speed on costs of different armor "specialty" crafting materials)
Shard Price: 60 x ~3k = 180k
And... Ecto Price...:60 x 7k=420k
And... LOTS AND LOTS OF PATIENCE... equiavalent to an infinite amount of gold.

Which adds up nicely to... a lot... Although... my math is almost surely skewed, as I am not sure about the Ecto/shard need for each piece

Thanks for the correction, Meta. The original poster was referring more to baseline gold prices, so I stuck to those, but yes, he definitely should know about the additional material costs.

Wasn't there a topic recently on how to make gold?

The reality is, you will have to farm if you want that much gold, if you're happy with normal armor though, no farming is required

not anymore. when it used to sell for 100k, that wasn't bad

now sigils only sell for 40 - 50k, which is not all that much better than chump change

certainly one sigil won't give original poster the kind of money he's looking for

a correction on your correction

its does not require 60 ectos for every piece. depending on the piece your purchasing the req for ectos and shards differ.

chest: 45 ectos 45 shards
legs: 30 ectos 30 shards
boots:15 ectos 15 shards
gloves: 15 ectos 15 shards

well there you go.

The Hall of Heros is part of the PVP portion of the game,
you need to win conscecutivly on the maps in the tomb of primeval kings to reach the Hall of Heros. If your team manages to win Hall of hero's you get 3 chests to open which drop sigils and gold/items also the teams name is displayed in green across everyones chat window

PvP characters have access to the storage vaults, yes. Simply go up to one of the Xunlai Storage agents on the hill facing the archway in the Tombs district, and put your items in.

I have recieved 99% of my gold (roughly 7 million) from selling sigils/items from HoH. Back when there were still normal chest/wreckage's in the game, there were spots you could just run to and recieve 200-400 gold per run. Each run would take only a few minutes. From what I recall, the average rate per hour was ~8k-12k an hour depending on the location and your class/skill combination.

I haven't PvE'd in the last 3 months, so I really don't know what the current gold farming spots are.

frost what is your account name? if you win hoh all that much i think i would know you. and please dont be a jerk about it to regular people. winning hoh is easy now, but back when i was first starting i never got anywhere close. its not a realistic way for newbs to make money. they need to farm. sigils are for once you get into the pvp scene.

there's only a few money makers in the game. ecto, shards, superior absorption rune, superior vigor rune, sigil. ecto/shard selling for pve and sigils for pvp is one way to go, at least it's sure money, and less boring then people's silly farming plans.

a good way of getting money is SF and the items and chests therein.
usually you won't make up the key price on chests but sometimes you find items worth 50k+ (possible perfect sickle)

I'ma level 20 Ncro/Ele almost finished with the game, and have no money on my hands. (only about 1k) I have been selling items, etc, but nothing seems to be going up. So if you make the PvP character, each time you win a battle you get money? I don't fully understand it.

Everyone cares about Rank.. I don't get it. Rank doesn't say you're good, just that you play PvP alot. I got invited by a Rank 6 yesterday and I asked him what build he was going to use, he said some like "A balanced team of course..", and after that he invited 3 Necros.. Erm, wtf?

Rank might not say everything but stating it would have no meaning I do hear a lot from Hardcore-PVErs who fear getting owned by other human players while lots of monster-hordes are no problem for them (and where they can show off their "uber-solotank build" - griffon-runners ahoi!). It's not always the distaste of the PVP gamestyle. There is a psychological component/element/barrier behind it, one should not brush aside and if you suffer from it, then you should refrain from making such comments.

Actually, there aren't that many teams since spirit spam got nerfed that can hold HoH for a whole round, because that's just simply too hard. Usually people win HoH by sitting around until the last 2 minutes, in which they attack the altar.

Well, to answer the OPs question, it really depends on where you are in the game and at what level.

These are a few PvE options at your disposal.

Low levels can make good money from Charr hide farming. Just save the hides and get a fur square from Calissa Sedgewick in Ascalon city for every 4 hides you get. Thats an easy 200-250 gold each time. Some people are even prepared to buy charr hides for 50g each, cos they know they can make money on them.

Low level salvaging isn't worth it IMO. Pre & Post searing ascalon salvage drops will only really yield 1 crafing material per item (2 if you're lucky), pre-salvaged, you may get 2-5 gold for an unsalvaged armour, but salvaged, the merchant or materials merchant will typically pay 3 gold per crafting material. Collecting in bunches of 10 is an option, but by the time you take into account the cost of salvage kits, it's just not worth it.

Mid-level, salvaging becomes a more viable option. Also, selling collector items for armour can be popular. (Ebon spider legs in the Maguuma Jungle for instance is a good one). Before the update, there was also chest farming, but that was too easy.

High level, you have various options. You can expert salvage items, and can get the odd rare crafting materials, you can farm for money (obviously, you get more if you go with less people). If you have a monk build, you can solo UW (It's more difficult now, but still doable), or as a Ranger, can trap UW (a bit easier, a lot quicker, but you can't solo) for ectos and sell them (at current prices) for 7k each. A warrior can farm griffons & trolls, or can earn money from running people from Beacons to Droks. Running people in other parts of the game is an option, but a vast majority of areas can be run by lower level players using henchies as meat shields, so Beacon's -> Droks is the only one that will have loads of customers.

You can also get very quick money (and lose many friends) from getting a few gold items in the high level chests, and trying to sell them to n00bs in LA or Ascalon for 50k+, but people are fast getting wise to the influx of gold items, and you will struggle if you try this. There is also Ebay is you're really that sad and desperate....

but final thought. Do you really need to accumulate masses of gold? Usually people find collectors items to be very adequate, and just go through the game without worrying about money. (This is what I did with my ranger, and found that I had 100k by the time I ascended). The more you worry about your bank balance, and the more you watch it, the slower it will grow.

Farm the highest level monsters that you can successfully handle solo. If your new to the game, then farming is the way to go. It can get boring after a while of doing it, but its a guaranteed sure fire way to make money.

1) Watch the trade channel in LA for "WTB Grognar's Sword." Ask that person how much he/she is willing to pay, and write their name down on a piece of paper.

2) Go to Deldrimor War camp and watch for "WTS Grognar's Sword" and also spam "WTB Grognar's Sword."

3) Buy it for (hopefully much) less than the person in (1) was offering, making sure the person still needs it.

4) Sell it to the person in (1) and make a tidy profit.

5) Go back to step 1. Free free to substitute "Tanzit's Defender" or "Razorstone" for "Grognar's Sword."

it is random on the black dye so there is no specific place to farm it.
