Get rid of pet?

How do i get rid of a pet, as a ranger, so i can get a different one? CUase i grabbed some bird pet, but then got a quest to get a cat... but it wont let me cuase it says i already have a pet... how do i get rid of it?

usually near a ranger secondary profession trainer
regent valley in presear
and if you are post sear i think one is just outside the old askalon gate

what is post sear and pre sear? and i cant find one by the ascalon gate

Pre sear is the green part of Ascalon that you're in the when the game begins. Post Sear is the part of Ascalon you get to when you enter the academy.

The tamer is out in Old Ascalon in Post Sear.
