equipment: everything on it...3 sup runes (1 weapon 1 strength 1 vigor)...defensive weapon (+5 armour) with +15% while health >50%...knight's gauntlets, rest is the highest Al armour you got (i used drag.) ...no...really...this "build" owns most most warriors dragging themselves around the 4v4 arenas...especially comp arenas...its sad but true. You don't bring basics like attack buff, snare, sprint in a 4v4...you get showed up by jokers like me with 2 stances and a rez sig.
edit: rii just reminded me...a 5 - 1 vampiric sword can be good. 5 added damage, the health gain is ok but not what we're here for...just be sure to switch to another set when not hitting to avoid uneeded health loss.
rii
sadly, it seems you cant unlock 5/1 through pvp. it might just be a bug in the interface since i know they exist. 3/1 results in no net gain in health tbh, but extra damage is extra damage.

Please, please please I mean PLEASE stop making sword war/mo tanks for pvp! For god sake PLEASE
Kaospryx
That's because there's no such thing as a 5/-1 vampiric for swords. They only exist for bows and hammers. 3/-1 is max for axes and swords.
JYX
tru dat.
HOWEVER. I feel awfully guilty for not giving any of the standard advice...and I figure its time I stop ignoring the basics and do some community service:
1) never...ever...ever ignore strength...ever...please...I beg you. Its up to 15% armour penetration...without the hassle of casting and it works on every single hit...It's linked to good skills which you may or may not use...(see: sprint. essential, but it works with 0 points of strength)
2) please refrain from healing yourself. I know mending often works out good...but thats because the enemy is incompetent and is unable to damage you for 6 dps...not because mending is a really really awesome spell. I am often puzzled as to why mending is used...surely if you wanted an maintained enchant self heal to use as a warrior you'd get Live Vicariously. Though I digress...your monk is in no way helped by you healing yourself, spent the extra points on attacks and power through the enemy before they blink...thats helping your monk a lot more than mending...and you're much better at it.
3) Using a sword these days implies things...things like you're spending your elite on something else...things like you're already grouped with an axe warrior...I will explain:
Axes hit at the same rate as a sword...they do more damage than a sword. Eviscerate inflicts a deep wound on the NEXT strike...when you do an executioner's strike on the NEXT strike...you produce a very very big spike (200+ dmg often). This saves a lot of hitting. Not to mention skills like Eviscerate/Exe strike/Penetrating blow/disrupting chop are mean skills anyway. Pure damage is good on an axe warrior (again, depending on how they built it) BUT...Eviscerate is an elite, if you don't have an elite in axe...the line suddenly becomes...dreary...dull...full of easily removed conditions and semi-useful rather generic +damage attacks. Whereas in sword...you got the galrath slash + final thrust combo of awesomeness...sans need for elite. ALSO: 2 axe wars in a group of 4 is just wasteful...really...obviously the eviscerate/exe combo dosen't stack because deep wounds don't stack...you might as well have a guy in sword with galrath/final thrust...and some other skills...spare him a wasted elite.
Its the latter I'm experimenting with now...eviscerate/exe combo not stacking means we gotta look to other sources of damage not only imo in 4v4 but in 8v8 as well...I don't want to take it light and split the targets 2 or 3 ways to get the most out of 2 or 3 axe wars. I'm trying to devise some sort of flourish build to unload a ton of energy attacks in a short time...I'm not going to embarass myself by posting about it with no numbers...but if you want i'll fill you in on it when I'm done. Although...I do have an awful feeling a Quickshot ranger can do the same but better...we'll see...
4) in 4v4 except when you're needing faction (less need for rezes...rezes=no flawless=less faction=you need another setup) you want the 3 skills I used in my previous post. If you do not use those 3 skills...I wanna know why not -.-;
5) rune yourself to hell. Go ahead...you're worth it. You got the beefiest armour in the game...you got absorption runes AND knight's piece. You don't take any damage...you don't die before your monk notices...again I emphasise this: you're helping your monk a lot more by simply powering through enemies as opposed to trying to keep yourself alive a bit longer.

point being: thats just really really good. I suppose technically you could put yourself to 16 strength...but...why would you wanna?...15 max for me tbh...more like ~10-13 in practise because often you want a third line.
I caught that attack skills bit too...I had the impression they changed it from 2% when using a skill to 1% always at some point. Maybe they changed it to 1% when using a skill while I was away. Either way...its still good.

so basically after trying to get through all that I get that.
1) I should stop using tactics and use strength
2) I shouldn't worry about healing myself because if my monk does I shouldn't care.
3) Just try to do as much damage as fast as possible and who gives a shit if i die?
I'll I have to say is i'm going to continue to use swords I have a great gold sword that I really like that lengthens bleed and gives 27health and does +dmg when above 50% health.

Right on. You do all of that, and you can give me a shout in-game 'n play some team arenas. I swear most warriors I met do not understand this...and I'm so very tired of explaining.
...plus I'll fill you in on some experimental sword builds. Its what I'm fiddling with atm.

Well what i really meant was I shouldn't worry about my own health and more so about kicking some ass. | Would you recommend keeping SA gash and FT? how about an adrenaline booster? I haven't been playing for very long so I'm just trying to get some ideas and i'll have to try out some different stuff, most of you seem pretty knowledgeable so thats the reason I ask. JYX

For sure though...that elite is going elsewhere . Final Thrust is your light at the end of the tunnel...use galrath slash and Final Thrust together. As for adrenaline boosters...Frenzy is your attack buff, and adren booster in one handy package. Like I said...I'll get back to you tomorrow or the day after with the results of my flourish tests. People have told me its useless/nooby/QS rangers will disgrace you...but eh...I'm just stubborn like that drwtwn312
So i've tried out
1)hamstring 2)spring 3)SA 4)Gash 5)FT 6)Savage Slash 7)Frenzy 8)Res sig I did it just in the random group selection and this build works great if you have a monk. Otherwise it's a completely trash build. I think it would have some potential if you worked with your monk well but solo or no monk don't even think about it. cookiehoarder

8 healing 14 swords 10 tactics 1)Gladiators Defense (elite) 2)Hamstring 3)Sever Artery 4)Gash 5)Final Thrust 6)Savage Slash 7)Mending 8)Res Signet Any comments or suggestions would be much appreciated. Drop Hamstring, Sever Artery, Final Thrust, Mending, and Savage Slash. You might also want to drop Gladiator's defence and all your sword+healing stats. A warrior shouldn't be a "Tank" in PvP. I suggest taking 1) Eviscerate 2)Axe Rake 3)Executioners strike 4) Disrupting Chop 5)Distracting blow/Penetrating blow 6) Sprint 7) +atk spd chance of your choice, scratch flurry though. (Frenzy or TF should go here) I love frenzy <3 8) res sig 16 axe 13 strength if you aren't using tigers fury TF stats 16 axe 10 strength 9 BM rii
hmmm, if i was to give a full 8 skills, then give this one a go:
Strength: 15 Sword: 16 Frenzy Sprint Hamstring Protectors Strike Galrath Slash Final Thrust Savage Slash Res Signet The standard skills, gs, ft, frenzy, sprint, res sig. (for sword). hamstring is useful, either for disabling enemy warriors or keeping the target within reach, besides sprint (allowing frenzy with hamstring, as opposed to no attack speed buff and having to use sprint all the time). Protectors Strike is officially amazing in the arena, kiting is pretty big, especially among monks, so this baby puts them down for doing so. Savage slash, also gives large amounts of damage + interrupt. Easier to use against eles tbh. Yukito Kunisaki
Don't go past 8 tactics...
Just use Fear Me! in a group of casters while under For Great Justice! and Frenzy... Start laughing when they scatter... rii
They never scatter for me. I love it.
