Question about being a Mesmer in PvP

I'm a Mesmer/ Elementalist, and contrary to popular belief, I am not a useless piece of skin in fancy clothes in PvE. In fact, I'm quite powerful, and usually am relied upon to aid Warriors in killing tougher enemies. But what I really want to know is, am I going to be useful in PvP? I mean, I haven't ever seen any Mesmer/Elementalists in PvP recommendations before, and I always heard that Mesmers were only a useful class in PvP, so I figure that maybe it's a tradeoff between being good (although inexplicably so) at PvE and being a sucky little weakling in PvP. Anyone have an opinion? Should I just remake my character?

Me/El can be very very good in PVP. Just plan to make max usage of your fast cast so that you don't just end up being a shitty Elementalist/Mesmer without Energy Storage. I.E. use long casting spells. I.E. Fire Storm, Searing Heat, Maelstrom, etc.
