Hi folks! I've been playing with my necro/mesmer in PvE for a few months now, and haven't really gotten into PvP yet. Now I'm getting interested in it. I've always been a Blood/Curses kind of guy in PvE. I've never really cared too much for Death Magic. Now I've heard that there are some successful b/c builds for the competition arenas, but what about 4v4??
I've gone in a few times with 2 pretty different builds, both with moderate success. If we had had a monk we would've done better. I'm trying to base my build around Feast of Corruption. Using Parasitic Bond as a quick hex that's also only 5 energy for FoC, and using Shadow Strike as my starting damage. My current build is this...
Shadow Strike(great damage over 50% health)
Parasitic Bond (nice quick hex that only costs 5 energy)
Vamp Gaze/or Awaken the Blood(haven't really decided which)
Feast of Corruption (nice damage on hexed enemies)
Desecrate Enchantments (good on monks or no?)
Strip Enchantment (haven't really decided on this one yet or not)
Arcane Echo (good to use with FoC)
Demonic Flesh (well it gives you 120 health I believe?)
Res Sig
My attributes are spent in Blood and Curses of course I think it comes out to:
Blood 13
Curses 12
Soul Reaping 5
With the runes included. I'm not at home right now, so I'm not entirely sure if that's right.
Now it's seems like this build would be better suited for GvG or HoH, because there are more people bunched together, so I'm not quite sure about it's potential in 4v4. If any of you more seasoned 4v4 Necros can give me any advice, it would be much appreciated.
Blood/Curses 4v4
Thorin

I kinda like this build I've been running for a while now in 4v4
Life Siphon
Faintheartedness
Insideous Parasite
Spiteful Spirit / Soul Leech
Arcane Echo
Strip Enchantment
Barbed Signet / Awaken the Blood
Res Sig
Curse 15 (11+1+3)
Blood 12 (10+2) ...I think
Soul Reaping 9 (8+1)
Keep Life Siphon on as many people as you can at once.
Arcane Echo Spiteful, Soul Leech, Insideous depending on youre situation
Strip enchant is good quick health and an enchnatment removal (great vs IW)
Faintheartedness warriors and rangers to interupt/slow combos
This build has done me well in the past with some good winning streaks. Mesmers can still get ya though, so be caerful. If mesmers are too big a problem, hex breaker will help.
for an FoC build, Suffering is kinda nice for the AoE hex, same for Shadow of Fear, however I don't run FoC so I'd need to test that more, my friend uses it and likes it however.

Thorin
That's close to the first build I tried. Spiteful was my elite, but I didn't have Echo at the time because I was an Ele secondary. That build would probably work a bit better for 4v4 than the one I have now. In GvG or Tombs you tend to get bigger groups bunched together, so FoC would be that much more useful there. I'm really liking PvP, and I want to play mostly with my Necro. I have a Mesmer close to ascension so I may try it with her some too.
Nightsorrow
If you enjoy spamming hexes, you can overlay Soul Barbs on the target and then just spam Wastrels with it - damage racks up.
