On quitting - Small penalty, if someone quits on a match, they must wait 2-5 minutes to rejoin into the arenas. If you lagged out, 2-5 minutes isnt so bad, but if you are a quitter, just pissed at your team for letting you die, and you want to get a new group and save that precious time you have so much of, its gonna be even worse to wait that 2-5 minutes then to stay.

But that would make running a bigger problem, because people wouldnt want to quit and get the 2-5 minute penalty, but if your enemy is running, youd probably save time by quiting.

On arena evasions - If there is one opponent left on one team, after 5 minutes of not getting killed, that opponent is kicked. A recording is saved and reviewed by some staff of some sort, if it was indeed a runner, that character is suspended from the arenas for a day (A week on next offense).
If there is only one left on both teams, they tie, and a recording is saved to spot witch was the runner.

Rez sigs - Mark near players name if they have a sig, greyed out when inactive(used).

Korean teams - The names can be a bit hard to spot, but if there was a feature were you could press like T-4 to select player 4 on their team, it would be faster then TAB.

Competition arena minimum level raised to 15 - Yaks bend arena sets Droknars armor to the AL of LA armor while in arena - Ascalon arena sets armor to Ascalon AL. This way PvE ers can still enjoy droks armor, but arena users cant take advantage of it.

I came up with these, because the arena, .... is Hell.
(Non arena suggestion)

CAPS LOCK LIKE THIS! - An option to turn caps off, only the first letter of each word would show up capped.

the problem is, some warriors of various variaties can actually survive that long, maybe if they didn't attack back for 5 minutes it could boot them, but I actually enjoy chasing runners, though I can't really explain why...

Hmm, you are right. Though the attack concept would be useless, monks and rangers could turn around and shoot once to restart the time.

Nah, honestly this method doesn't work either. You can't really give someone a penalty for leaving, it would just frustrate people. Why make it so people can't play? Unless someone joins an arena battle then leaves, over and over again, to make his team lose, then that's bad, but think of it this way: If that player, who wants to mess up his team, had stayed, would his team have done any better? No.

No penalties for leaving.

It is bad when someone leaves over and over in various teams. But these penalty ideas are just ridiculous. Computers crash, internet connections go out, and other various reasons beyond a persons control. It's a game...sh** happens get over it.

It sounds like the point of the delay for leaving was lost. The OP said 2-5 minutes. If it's at the two minute mark and your computer crashes and you need to reboot or your internet connection goes down it will likely take more than 1 minutes to get logged back in the game. Then you have less than 1 minute to wait. The point is to prevent people from joining and leaving teams so that they are a person short, or they are trying to be griefers.

As for the 5 minute timer for runners. I love the idea. I had people who are being a*****es and just running around and won't take the honerable defeat. If nothing else just request a 1-on-1 dual. You'll either die or take out your opponent and then have your opponet's team finish you off.

Though I must say, it feels soooooo good when your pet spider outruns and kills the runner! And everytime you interupt troll uguent you can just picture that person sitting behind the computer yelling "Son of a...!". Something really really has to be done, me and Splat cant always be around to kill the runners.

Atleast they should make it a severe banable offense, because if they dont, well call 911 and send a rescue force to the runners address... Or send the U.S. Millitary to my house before I can get out.

I've had a match that was 10 or so minutes of me vs another warrior, he was a hammer war and could get weakness on me and I would sprint away. Every encounter was like this, but I tried to see what order he used devastating hammer. At the end, I distracted his devastating hammer and he said that he "let me win".

I like the time out idea if you leave your party, will definitely prevent droppers - and like you said if it's because of crashing or losing connection... then that isn't a problem since it's going to take you that long to get back anyway.

... lol I find it funny on the crag, quite often, the team that suffers the first death... half of them will drop.

Thing is, if you play team arena you don't really get these problems, a few measures to work against the occasional idiot would be alright though

I think, if you leave a match or party prematurely, it wont let you play GW anymore until you get a different ISP and computer.

That way, people who leave because of technical problems arent penalised (they have an excuse to fix the problem that caused it) and people who leave to grief or due to impatience have to buy a new pc or change their internet providers. Or quit GW. Or buy another copy of GW.

See, everyone wins!

problem is, some people (for example my parents, who live just outside of Alexandria Indiana) can only get 1 ISP, and if you can afford another computer, why would you use a crappy one?

I am not a GuildWars Developer, but i really think the game can differentiate between a regular exit and an exit due to a lost connection (Crash, internet Connection lost etc.). So it should be possible to just punish the leavers, not the unlucky guys with a computer problem.

And pressing the reset button of the PC just to avoid the penalty should be annoying enough...

I don't know what your experience has been lately, and perhaps there has been a rash of bugs/errors/crashes/whatever. BUT I was in Lion's Arch arena last night and I got on 5 consecutive teams with a leaver at the start. Then won a couple, then another 4 teams in a row with quitters - at the start!

Where are these people coming from/going to?

This one was funny: Someone left (common occurrence for me nowadays), then the necro started sacrificing herself to death over and over. Basically 4 v 2 on the lava map. Boy that was fun. Can you guess who won that one?

Anyway,

/signed

I agree, if your internet kicks out, you are not to blame and you ought not to be punished per se. However, if your internet kicks out, you aren't online to BE punished, are you?

[Next day...]

I don't know if all of you arena-quitters have my characters' names on your friends list and conspire to be on my team just to quit on me. But it is becoming UNBEARABLE.

Team after team of quitters - before the match starts, so don't try and tell me "you suck and you're losing and you're a noob and that's why they quit." It's happened while playing my monk, my mesmer, my elementalist in Lion's Arch arena.

Maybe it's a streak of bad luck on my part, but I cannot seem to find a team that stays whole before the beginning timer even runs down. First it was the Drok's/elites rushers in the lower levels, now it's the quitters. Making arena life miserable. Very discouraging.
