i've found that you need to advertise. i've had many threads called 'rather nice' and 'quite good' people only seem to respond to 'GOLD WEAPONS 15>50!!!'
they respond even better to GODLY and UBER and such terms but they aren't allowed and of course most of the attention they get is negative. but they do get bids.

try describing the item in the thread title and the people who want it will more likely see it.
