So everyones talking about how great a 1v1 arena would be, and alot more people are talking about why it would suck, diversity in builds would be limited to invincible builds and the counters for those builds. So im thinking that everyone likes the idea because it allows a player to just go in there and fight without worries about forming a strong team. So heres my idea, a Gladiator Type arena, where as its just constantly going, people randomly get thrown into it every few minutes, say every 10 minutes a new batch of, i dunno, 50 people, come storming in from differant corners of the arena, all having to face eachother, no alliances allowed. While all this happens youd have to give incentive, a morale boost for holding certain areas of the arena, or fame bonus's for lasting every 10 minutes without dying.

In my personal opinion Id love to be able to just grab a character and fight without the hassle of forming a good team, and even more Id like a challange that never ends, just keeps going with new people to fight all the time and getting prizes for lasting in such a place for the longest amount of time, people that last for hours on end should become truly famous for there ability to do such a great deed!

i like the idea of having an arena where it's a huge free for all / last man standing fight. should be fun.

I think that is a cool idea, killin everythin you see. Sounds fun.

I also have an Idea. I think there shud be a 1v1 area where only SAME PROFESSIONS may fight eachother. Warrior vs warrior, Mesmer vs Mesmer, etc. Like Lynxx Monk said, to keep balance resolved.

Again, I sopport Lynxx Clan Monk's idea.

What better way to prove you're better than to kill an opponent in one on one combat? I'm 100% behind this idea. Let's see it happen anet!

Yes, thats the main LACK of gw at the moment.
1v1 is the best way to evaluate a build. I hope they allow the chance to choose your opponent, not just random players.

1v1 is useless, it will be all monks and mesmers as nothing can outdamage a monks healing, and the only answer is to shut it down. Runners will be plenty, because you can't corner them. Guild wars is made for people on dial up, what will happen when they have 100+ people fighting on the same screen?

Its not useless if u both can CHOOSE your opponent and both of u agree, unlike random arenas that are now.
You see a list of players, you ask for a duel to one, he agrees, then u go fight in a 2 ppl arena. spectators would be cool too btw.

Nothing can outdamage a monk's healing? That's debatable. 100+ people on the same screen, lol. All they have to do reduce the amount of players per arena...silly.

and reduce it down to a 4v4 again. Dial up users already have trouble downloading the maps, imagine a bigger map with more people, by the time the dial up user finished loading the game would be over already.

Well for starters you could put in a new system, something liek this, For every kill you get you gain one faction + one head hunting point (random name for it) now just like everyone in pvp can view the morale and health screen there would be a headhunt section to show who has the highest amount of kills, say the top 20 players currently in the arena, and when you kill those players you get an equal amount of faction to the amount of head hunting points they have. This would make it so that people would want to kill the players that are uber good, eventually one player wouldnt be able to handle a constant onstream of foes from a system that this would create.

Awesome Idea!

I'd prefer to have a /duel command (like wow) available in Explorable Areas.

That way, people can pass time if they're waiting for something during a quest, or duel for an item, etc.

Also, it would be worth it just because in town, you can settle an argument by saying "DO YOU WANNA STEP OUTSIDE?!!" :P

(and you can bring up to 6 eyewitnesses to egg you on too :P )

Personally I would be all for the free for all, maybe some impromtu teams to take down a good build..then kill eachother when the top guy is outta the way. 1 vs 1's would only be nice if you could choose your opponet, or it only matched with similar proffessions. As to the dual command in towns, I only see idiots and asses using that one, and for that reason I have to disagree with it. Imagine the spam in LA with that and then think if you really want it. It's bad enough having to hear about every "godly thing" someone wants to sell, don't bring the idiots there yelling,"i can roxors and pwn every1 i am ub3r godly 1337!!!1 dont believe me i will go now or l8er" don't subject the world to that one please.

Agreed, that would get way out of hand, not that spamming isnt bad enough already, but adding a feature like that would make it out of control, I already uncheck local, chat, emote, and trade whenever i go into any populated area, there would have to be some kind of unchecking to stop random people from offering duels because that would get annoying fast.
