I recently played with Mesmer, but once I joined the Academy I could not find the city where my character was born. Is there anyway I can return to my birth place?

Did you pay any attention to the name of the city, or the cut scene after the Academy? The place you ended up is the same city. It's just been destroyed by the Charr Searing. So, no, you can't go back.

Thanks very much for the information. I do not remember the name of the City any more. Am I supposed to complete the missions on my way? What happens to the quests I have taken from the starting city?

you have the option to skip all the tutorial content by entering the academy once you hit level 3. in my opinion, the only thing of value you get, besides experience of course, are the free starter skills, which you will most likely be able to get at the trainers post-searing anyhow. there was an issue with the belt bag only being available from collectors pre-searing, but i believe that was a bug.

as mentioned, as it is now, you will not be able to "go back in time" to the pre-searing area once you leave. the searing is a cataclysmic event in the story of ascalon. any quests you did not finish cannot be completed.

I find that cool. This really will be an awesome game. Dang, could March 18th come any slower? God... ...........

lol i know what you mean, i learned about the game like 1 day after the jan. BWE it took a year for the feb one to come!

Yeah, I really can't wait to start pre-seeing or w/e. Getting to paly the game and all.

i forgot to mention that the secondary profession quest was also only available in the pre-searing area during the feb bwe. if you joined the academy without getting your secondary profession, you would not be able to get one at all.

and the worst penalty for not getting a second profession and wanting one a litle later is redoing the small amount you have already done and then going through the academy again

i may keep a character in green askalon just for relaxation and enjoying the scenery
