Hey guys, I need a solid prot build for tombs and this is what I am currently running. (Mo/E)
Reversal
Shield of Regeneration
Shielding Hands
Prot Spirit
Mend Ailment
Aegis
Armor of Earth
Res
Attributes:

take out rez & put in guardian
take out shield of regen {e} & put in restore condition {e}
take out mend ail & put in lesser energy glyph
with that said I like mo/me better than mo/ele but mo/ele can definitely work. I've also seen armor of earth work nicely on mo's.
also use guardian very often

also use guardian very often I'd say keep the Rez and drop Shielding Hands in favor of Guardian. While you might not have alot of time to be doing rezzing, I find its better to be save than sorry with rezzes.
If going Mo/E then I think Obsidian Flesh is a must in terms of elites, otherwise you should really go with another class. Glyph of Lesser is nice, but you'd be better off taking another subclass if you're not gonna use it. I agree with the point with Mo/Me just for the fact that drains are so popular now a days. Mend Aliment can work assuming you have a necro to handle the disease going around, but without one you're gonna need to run some form of elite condition removal like Martyr or Restore Condition.

Effigy
Glyph of Energy {E} might be a decent choice for energy management since it would allow you to drop Aegis for 10 mana total. I've heard a lot of prot Monks say that energy is a big problem. Something to consider anyway.
Ronin Shadowfire
With Glyph of Lesser Energy the energy cost for Aegis will only be 5..
Effigy
Nevermind then, I was thinking it cost 25 for some reason.

I have been running a protection monk for a couple of weeks now, and at the start I was having problems with energy management.
I put Divine Spirit in, the hardest thing with this is knowing when to use it, because it can be wasted so easily. I usually use it just before my second aegis and then just spam reversal and orison or another expensive (monk)spell you are running as many times as i can before it runs out. By the time it finishes I usually have about the same mana left as when I started it.

Also to consider would be Blessed Aura to prolong your enchantments and 20 % enchantment staff wrapping. They stack so your enchantments can easily get 50% longer. Spike protection attribute to get 11 seconds out of Aegis with Blessed aura and the staff you would then have about a 17 second duration from that spell.
smurfhunter
guardian is absolutely essential nowrdays with the ranger spike builds. guardian absolutely gimps that and has a 2 second recharge, so even if they linger youre still ok. rigor mortis messes it up totally tho =/
what beats a straight ranger spike team is a prot monk with good reflexes. (quickly dumping guardian/shielding hands on someone).
the sad thing is when they target you. you cant cast anything from all those punishing shots/savage somethings and you just drop like a fly. then if your team hasnt mastered the concept of resing the rest of the team kinda falls too. only way to really combat that is to have one heal monk use heal other/word while the other seeds. then ur safe for a bit...

Actually blessed aura is taken as a percentage of a percentage. For example: you have a 20% enchantment wrap a 30% longer enchantment blessed aura, and a 10 second spell. It will take one percentage first, so let's take 20% first. The skill is now 12 seconds. Then it takes 30% of the 12 making it a 15.6 second duration, probably rounded to 16 depending on how the game rounds.
Just some food for thought.

Ah, thanks for the correction .. I was not aware of the actual game mechanics behind it.

Yeah drop res signet and armor of faith for minor glyph and guardian.
I was told that spells like aegis, guardian or shield of deflection do work on ghostly hero, is it correct?

Aegis doesn't. The rest do.
