Ok this is my first suggestion, I wasnt sure how to search if this has already been coverd, but searches under UI or skins didnt seem to produce any good results,
A friend was describing a screenshot he had from BETA many moons ago which had a completly different look.. this got me thinking.
I would be an excelent idea if when your playing a certain proffesions the UI changes to a proffesion theme.. e.g.
Warrior:
box's or windows have a sharp edge knife effect to them.
Radar is actually a round sheild of some form
Monk:
Windows have tribal art similar to their tatoo's surrounding windows.
Radar background is a bright sun, and you just see the shimmering around the edges.
Ranger:
Windows maybe ropey kind of effects around the windows or leather
Rader has a grassy/straw kind of effect around with some beads thrown in
Elementalist:
windows, crystals!!.. lots of lovley shiny crystals
Radar.. misty background or even a shimmering pool of water that the radar sits in
Necromancer:
Windows with bone effects and blood splatters
Radar.... obvious, on FIRE.
Mesmer:
I havnt got a blinkin clue.. never played mesmer dont know what they are all about.. maybe run a competition
I can clearly picture these ideas in my head but my description is very brief but you get the idea... I'm not suggesting massive overpowering effects, but very very thin discreet effects on the edges of things like the skills selection box at the bottom.. notice how they have little nice effects on the edges.. something like that
Maybe not even have them set for different proffesions.. have them completly changable according to what the user prefers as visually appealing, just like desktop skins.
Im sure after reading those suggested skins people minds will run wild with ideas.. any other thoughts on what proffesion skins might look like?

Stay on topic please: skinnable UI. If you don't like this idea, don't reply.
Snowman: no offense intended, but you might want to make your point more interesting to read by double checking typos and spelling before hitting the submit button.

I like your idea. Since almost everything else is customizable, why not the color of the UI? The easiest way Areanet could implement this is by releasing a tool of some sort to edit the color of the UI menus. They could even go as far as making a contest for the best user submitted theme, and for the best that they choose, they could be extra content that you can download.

I want a feature that can 'dock' the party box, so it takes up a bit less space.

typos and spelling is, in no way, shape or form, the definition of an 'interesting' post...content is

Usually I have to get a friend to check over what I write for any big obvious mistakes.. but this thread I did on my own.. despite being errors it is still an interesting read...

If you would rather me not post anymore because of my errors send me a private message and I would be happy to make your job easyer... or DO WHAT OTHER FORUMS DO... INTRODUCE A SPELL CHECK

Please do not get angry and flippant with the mods or admins. They are here to help you and keep things running smoothly.
Frog offered you a little good advice to make this thread more presenatable to the general public. It is obviously a decent idea, which is why he thought it would help to get more people looking at it. I for one, think it's very fun idea.
And yes, on these boards your use of the english language does make a difference. Please read THX's post about the use of english on this board.

I am resurrecting this thread because I still would love to be able to flip through 6 or more GUIs to make Guild Wars more personalized in appearances. The current GUI is great but, like most people, I like the ability to choose how something looks (Hair, clothes[armor], skills); a color or theme customizable GUI would greatly add that finishing touch to the game.
