Farming with Verata's Aura?

The big problem with necro farming is getting that first corpse, so... has anyone tried using Verata's Aura to capture a bunch of undead then use them as your minions?

The description says once the spell expires they become hostile again... so can you just recast and get them back?

There's another thread here that seems to indicate Verata's Aura is at least partially broken. I would like to know if it's worth investing the 1 pp and skill point.

Also... does it work on Forgotten? Are they considered Undead?

Since Verata's Aura only works on unded minions, you still need that first corpse... You can't use this skill to capture Skeleton Ranger, Zombi Warlocks or Bone Dragons and the like.

And no, the forgotten ones are not undead.

Thanks... sounds like it's not that useful then. I guess the key term is "animated undead". That would only be critters that necro types raise from corpses?

If you're a Necro/Ranger this shouldn't be a problem really, just send your animal companion to it's doom.

Skill:
Animate Bone minion
Death Nova
Taste of death
Verreta's Sacrifice
Dark Bond
well of blood
Apply poison
Animal Companion (My animal is always level 5 or under and dies very quickly)


Raise Bone minions, Death nova them, Use dark bond/well of blood to protect yourself then use taste of death on one of your minions when it's half health (or when you are in trouble) , BOOM, Raise 2 more bone minions, repeat...

Once you have enough minions Use Verreta's Sacrifice, then just pick them off as you please with Taste of death while continuing to make newer bone minions. During this time you can use apply poison and just shoot as many tengus as you can.

You have to go quickly from one battle to another if you don't want to lose any minions, but with Verreta's sacrifice, I'm usually good till the ettins (who gave me 2 very nice superior runes once in one setting)

you can also start out by killing a lynx, wolf, dune lizard, ect. where ever you are going to farm. they are only lvl 5 so are aesy to kill and get minions started.

Yeah! That's true you can also kill the animals around you.

And Death nova usually deals 100+ dmg in addition to whatever you bone minions dealt. Usually (for me at least) 1 vampric gaze, 2 hits from my minions and a death nova kills em easilly.

this isnt really for farming, but a nifty trick for a nice minion bomb is be an N/Mo, ge a bunch of minions with death nova, then cast zealots on you and spam tase of death. im wondering id another necro has taste of death but low death would it steal a little from your minions. its kinda funny though, having undead smite.
