Is there a petition for Guild Wars on x64?

GW could be made to run under Linux using Cedega (a kind of DirectX emulation software for those not familiar with it) but the Sorrow's Furnace update broke it. So the SF update made me boot Windows for the first time since 3 months...
A REAL Linux client would be cool and GW's huge success would probably justify a port, too.

games are the only reason I have to use windows....it makes me cry. I wish Cedega was free...I refuse to pay for software to run on a free operating system....although I suppose Im paying for the service more than the software....but anyways it leave a bad taste in my mouth reguardless.

If they made it run for linux, then they wouldn't have to change much for full mac osx support. Considering a good amount of anet used to work for blizzard, the fact that there isn't a port has had me confused.
Renegade ++RIP++
stupid question but is there a mac port?
Seeing i always hear my mac friends complain about lack of good games.

Like I have said to many others, Windows only servers one purpose in my life and that is for GAMING. Other then that LINUX (gentoo) all the way!!

i would love a Linux port, but it all comes down to would it be more hassle than its worth for anet.

Cedega simply sucks for online gaming, you want minimum lag and maximum speed lest you annoy your teammates with your frequest lagging / dieing / idling. I think right now Guild Wars run at about half speed if you use Cedega, simply not good enough.
Do make a native linux port.

Here is the link to the petition: http://www.petitiononline.com/gwlinux/ If anyone knows of a Thread or Petition already in motion, post the link. I did a search of Riverside Inn and Sardelac Sanitarium and it turned up not much. |

I'd personally like to quit my whole two-timed computing (as in playing GuildWars on the other and having other programs on the others). I have 4 computers at my place, 3 tabletops and one laptop. One of them has windows and it serves currently only one purpose. GuildWars. Otherwise, I don't even use it.

I'm willing to bet the answer would be no. Might as well make a petition for pink unicorns... no offence Ark.

While is not a pleasant truth I agree, world wide compatibility would be great, but its not possible from a business point of view.
BTW... which A.R.K.? and do those yellow Unicrons count?
As for the person that asked about Macs, they aren't for playing games, unless you install windows on them(which I heard works better than on a machine actually designed to run windows O.o)

Anet are such slaves to Windoze they said they want to require Vista for GW2. Amazing considering the growing popularity of Apple OSX and the offering of 3D drivers by nVidia and, recently, ATi. Let's not forget the Asus Eee, a linux laptop that has sold out with 350,000 models.
/signed, but with little hope of it ever happening. Anet aren't the greatest of IT's.

/signed,
but this has been discussed before and apparently the reason it'd be hard to port is that it's based on Microsofts DirectX-technology, and Microsoft doesn't support Linux.
Using something like Cedega could be a possibility, but would be likely to open up enormous support problems for Anet/NCsoft, possibly even legal problems.
So, yeah, I'd love to see Guildwars native on Mac and Linux (and PS3), but I don't think it's going to happen.
Edit: Clarissa F: sorry, but if you think ANet are bad programmers, you clearly have no clue what you're talking about.

I just signed it. Although I do play GW on Linux (Ubuntu Gusty 7.10) the only thing I have noticed is my cursor will disappear and I have to restart to get it back. Oh, and my fps is about half what it was on Windows (30 from 60+)
GO PENGUINS!!

Still, /signed. Would allow me to go to Linux full time.
