I was out in the Arid Sea today, and I noticed a tall statue of a female warrior in the distance. I was trying to get closer to get a nice screenshot of it, and it disappeared, all that remains is a portion of the left leg. I backed off to no avail.

Am I crazy, or is this supposed to happen?

The statue is still there, it's just fallen over. It does that each time you go into the Arid Sea area. I tried to watch it fall, but discovered there's no animation for that. One second it's there and the next second it's fallen already.

and while you were there, did you happen to pick up 15 more attribute points? The statue is the only way to get to them.

Yep.
Pretty impressive, huh?

Same thing happened to me. I guess the idea is, that it collapses when you get closer - even though you don't hear it or see it fall.

I had to come back to see if I had imagined it....

Yep, the last time I did the quest, I never noticed the statue standing.

how does the statue give you the points? (will have to go back there) you rebuild it?

The Statue itself does not give you the points. However the NPC that does can only be reached by crossing over the fallen statue. That's the thing with games like this, if the environment changes there is always a reason for that change and thus always investigate those changes.

If something is there that wasn't there before - look closer.

Yea, I've always wanted to see it close up, not toppled over though ^^

Too bad you can only see it whole from a distance.
