What can a mesmer do for AoE? All I can find is chaos storm, which has a very small area, and shatter hex, which obviously needs a hex in order to do anything.
And for shatter hex... is there a way to tell if an ally is hexed? Most conditions have little graphics but I haven't seen (or noticed) one for hexes.
What I'm thinking is a R/Me with a pet. Let the pet tank then use AoE skills to soften the mobs around it. Surely you should be able to tell if your own pet has a hex??
Mesmer AoE spells?

Hexes are evident when the health bar turns bright pink (as opposed to pale pink, which indicates bleeding).

Thanks... I should have been more specific. I meant AoE damage. Sounds like not much... but that's ok. Chaos storm, fire arrows, shatter hex, epidemic... not bad.

Well I use in PvE (level 14 now)
a Mesmer/Necro
In the beginning of PvE you can obtain disease (death magic) and then use Epedemic right after. All those spiders, scarab, mantle whatever...all will have disease on them...which is not bad.
Then just go with what the other guys says.
