Other than reading a post about this just a few min ago in the question and answer forum I havent seen a thread for this idea - yes I did a search.
I would love for there to be faction required zones in the next "paid" update. Wouldn't that be great for PvE? Gaining an alliance with maybe the stone summit, the dredge, the charr, the undead, dwarves, whoever - wouldnt that be fun? then once gaining an alliance with one of the groups you will be opened to a world from THEIR perspective.
then think of all the fuel this would add to pvp matching especially GvG. It would give so much more meaning behind it. Yes, I know that a story line already exists for the gvging I just think a better, more involved, plot could exist for the GW community. You could instead of pick a match between two guilds just for rank make a match to help gain maybe a certain favor for whichever faction your guild has chosen to side with.
Man, the ideas keep flowing....
Then - maybe if your faction has the "favor," whoeverso chooses to follow your faction could then also be allowed to go into another special zone - ie something similar to FoW or UW - but a new zone at that. ANET is already doing this by having the favor fought after by different countries, i just really think it could give the PVE more depth, and possibly even the pvp.
Now, lets here what you have to say? I really am interested in this.

i posted a similar PvE/PvP Hybrid gametype but alot of people didnt care to even read it...
but mine was more interconnected between PvP and PvE aspects
2 teams (the new guilds of the land trying to rule Tyria) starting on each side of the map, and they fight across the land (with their own seperate storylines depending on the team they are on) and try to fight the enemy guild/team.
and to prevent noob-bashing around the teams towns/capitals, there would be an area accessable inside the town (like the catacombs) where noobies can go to level up a bit and be strong enough to help in the fight to overtake the enemy guild.
but none the less if there was the 3 options when you start a new character i think it would work out just fine...PvP mode, RPG mode, and The New Guild Wars mode

wow, I am really surprised that people would not take interest in a proposed game like the one you stated or as I have mentioned above. I would just really like for their to be more of a cross involved story line between PVE and PVP. I just feel like the story lines really have barely anything to do with eachother. I just feels like all the time people are fighting just to fight - which is cool - and we can leave it this way.
I just think that it would be really nice to have something to similar to what I have mentioned in the next paid for chapter. It would not ruin the game for those that chose to not buy it. But it would add a heck of a lot more story line AND MEANING behind PVE and PVP.
