Tombs: Attack of the Idiots
Sagius Truthbarron
Has anyone noticed the excelerated ammount of people who don't know how to play their builds lately, in tombs? As if it weren't hard enough to find a group, now everyone is randomly selecting people, even for seemingly good LOOKING groups. I've been playing since 10am EST and have yet to find a group that has gotten past the first PvP battle. And now all the good groups are running Rank checks becuase they seem to think that high rankers haven't been HoH leached by their guild or the IWAY build >.> (You couldn't guess how many Rank 6+ IWAY warriors there are)
Most newer player's sole priority is to gain "Faction" to unlock "Uberitems" or something, so they think they will get faction faster if they leave to the Tombs Battles without planning their group/build.
It's like everyone's a vampire and you don't know it untill they bite/ start the time on you! I had one E/mo smiter that decided to heal with Healing Breeze. Monks that couldn't stand in the Wards. Korean Tank Warriors that don't speak English at all. Mending Tanks. IWAY warriors. Lions, Tigers, Bears! OH MY!

I was in a PUG a few nights ago and we won a few battles. I just chalk it up to luck but still, a game is meant for fun. Last night i spent around 30 minutes trying to get a group together and figure out a proper strategy and we still lost against some damn korean smite team.
morale of the story: if you're going FTW, make a well built team and spend your time making sure everyone understands whats up, but if you're going just for a faction/fame boost, don't waste the time.

It's really rather simple.
If you expect to win, don't play in PUG's.

the word "lately" is very misused in that sentence of yours there
there has always been masses of people who do not know how to play their builds in Tombs.

What White Designs says, your best chance of success in Hall of Heroes rides on you playing with people you know and trust. Definately if you want to be creative or at least do not want to be expected to do flavor of the month build, Pick up Groups have nothing for you.
Any victory you will get in a Pick up Group will either be incredibly dumb luck or the result of milking a build that people have trouble countering for all it's worth.

Communication wins. Except for Edge bombs. Then run your a** off! =)

But after reading I guess not.
Anyhow, yeah, PUGs are bad. PUGs simply aren't coordinated enough, for one thing. Guilds and friends FTW!

Winning the first round 90% of the time should be incredibly easy even with a pug. Chances are you're going up against another pug attempting to run the FOTM build....generally with little success.

Rank right now with IWAY is really worthless because IWAY can farm rank rather quickly.

Rank proves nothing..... i mean cmon lol
although having the emote looks cool

From my experience if you get PUGs that use voice communication you have better luck of not running into many idiots. This doens't always apply but from my experience most idiots don't bother to use voice chat. With Voice chat teams you also have ti easier to figure out the build the PUG will be using, etc..

the only thing IWAY beats is newbies.
as soon as IWAY comes up vs. a non-newbie team, IWAY is toast and then it's right back to square one
of course IWAY is the fastest way to farm fame with a PUG, but "the fastest" does not equal "fast"

Lol, maybe its because the good players don't find PuG's in the american, european, etc districts.
Also I would advise adding some good tombs groups into your friends list. I have about 10 people that I have partied with (their guild etc) that I can occaisonally get a group with if I felt like doing tombs. So usually we can come up with atleast a group of 7 and just LFG another person. (We've also had our share of bad players, premades ftw?)

Then you have people like me who never partakes in FOTM just so I can get into a PUG and I have 510 fame, yet most of hte builds I"ve been a part of require teamwork and skill (and usually invovle me with my guild).
In the time it takes me to get a decent team together with a decent build and play (with the limited time i have per day to play) I can gain much more fame with IWAY if I tried then how I normally play. I play to have fun though and IWAY isn't fun at all, and I really couln't give a crap if someone thought I'm a crappy player cause I"m only rank 4, cause I probably wouldn't want to play with them anyway if they have taht attitude.

I do more GvG and Random Arena (testing builds, improving myself). When I do go to Tombs I've waited over an hour in American and International District 1. Sucks to be a lonly rank 1 Healer. With IWAY, there is no need for me and I refuse to give in to the FOTM.
My guild hasn't ventured into Tombs yet because we do more GvG, and I have only one other person on my Friends list that organizes Tombs groups. That rank 3 looks so far away.
Such a paradox; to get a group I need rank; to get rank I need a group.
