Question on shields
Akhilleus
just for looks/rarity.
with bows its different, since different classes of bows have different attributes relating to arrow speed, refire rate and range.

while we are on the subject of shields i am looking for the collector's version (not the damn green one) of 16 def +45 to health and -2 dmg while ENCHANTED. I have found a 12 def version in The Wilds. Really not even sure how much difference 12 to armor vrs 16 to armor really amounts to. I have been told it has been nerfed and was in Shiverpeaks south but no one is real clear on that info any help would be appreciated.

no its not for looks!!! other wise i wouldn't even bother with the stupid carapace shield its kinda ugly. its because i use mending with my w\mo so i am constantly enchanted and would be receiving a constant 45 to health and -2 to dmg which i am using knights armor so i receive -4 to dmg (i am assuming thats who this works), and with my Major rune of absorption -2 that is right at -8 to dmg (again if thats how that works), and from what i can tell its all dmg i would receive i.e. fire, cold, shadow ect... now i know what your are thinking... what's -8 to dmg, When u consider i have mend of +3 to health regen constantly i am taking less dmg and get constant healing normally i am the last man standing not to mention i love seeing all the little 0's popping up around my head. So anyways if i digress i cared about looks i would plop down the 50k on a green or gold that everyone covets so much. instend i am looking for functionality.

hes talking about the decal itself.
a skeleton shield is no more special than an eternal shield or vice versa; except in 3 aspects:
A: the picture of the item (looks)
B: the items rarity, different items drop more/less often
C: desireability, which goes hand in hand with A
the look of the item is a funky thing, since even the same type of item (example longbow, hornbow, hammers) can have different "skins," making them look different than other weapons of the SAME TYPE.
in terms of rarity there are 2 important ascpest, locational restrictions and the items overal rarity. some items drop often, but only in specific areas, others drop rarely, but can drop anywhere, and others drop rarely in specific areas, etc. the rarity of the item does effect the market value considerably, for obvious reasons. if 10,000 8 15>50 fellblades all of a sudden appeared on the market, they would drop in value enormously; that having been said, the rarity of the item is more often than not less overbearing on the price than the items looks
desireability, the most important factor; and which semi encompasses the other 2. an item becomes desireable usually because it either looks good, its rare, or both. nothing sais "im a rich mofo" like possessing an item that not only looks awesome, but is extremely rare to boot. the desireability in terms of looks determines a value moreso than rarity; example, brute swords are significantly rarer than fellblades, and are yet less valuable
