cmon....
just add some health and energy recover items that can be added into the skillbar (the items will still be in your inventory, but the skillbar will allow a player to quickly hit a button to use the item) this way it might prevent the absolute NEED of a monk in your party, have the items have a decent recharge time and have the player only able to carry a certain amount with them.
maybe even add an extra 1 or 2 "detached" slots to the players skill bar that can only be fitted with the recovery items.

Well Warriors have a healing sig, Monks..., Rangers-troll urgent, Ele-have skills that heal while casting and energy reducing skills too. Necros-blood skills, sacrifice skills, and Well of Power. Mes-Not sure, but I know they must have something. They're not items, but they do heal and some give back energy too.
Chronos the Defiler
but that compromises skills and attributes, this way you can have the type of build you want and still be able to slighty self heal when needed
One and Two
I'll spam the craziest energy consuming skills and combine with oath shot to recharge them all real quick. Hey, energy doesnt matter, I got a energy potion!
I seriously you arent hoping for this crap for PVP...
And that leaves PVE. Which is easy enough already.

Wait, an actually useful gold sink in guild wars? Perish the thought!
PvE only, then I completely agree. However they should have some kind of negative to them that would make people reconsider. Something similar to the -75 health on superior runes. Or make them take up a skill slot or two (potions with greater effects prehaps).

Add in overpowered items that cost gold and I assure you there will be people complaining about having to grind for items to be able to pvp/pve.
