Hey everyone. I've been playing guild wars since the last beta event and have not had a single problem until now. The last time I played was this past sunday. So Tonight I went to login and it downloaded the new prelim language pack stuff , no big deal right? WRONG. I logged in with my main pvp warrior whos done everything except finish the sorrows update quests. Anyways the screen went to the loading screen of war camp and then out of no where my screen goes blue and says something about a physical memory dump and suggests i try a different graphics adapter. Then it rebooted. I thought ok, its a coincidence so I tried it again and boom the same thing. Then I thought maybe its a graphics conflict with the one character so I decided to log in with my monk and just like before i get the blue screen at the loading screen.

This update has rendered my graphics card useless!!! WTF?

ANET please fix this asap this is rediculous that I cannot log into my account because you all screwed up with the patch.

and in case you are wondering I'm running a toshiba sattelite p25-s526 notebook computer with the following specs:

1gb of ram
80gb hard drive
xphome sp2
nvidia 5200 geforce fx go card(integrated)
17"screen
integrated audio
3.2 ghz HT P4 processor

And yes I tried reinstalling the drivers, virus/ad/spyware scan. and a system restore. The problem was definately the update, there is no doubt in my mind.

ANET please fix this

Try re-installing guild wars doing a repair installaion with the orginal cd's. If not, un-install Gw and reinstall it. It does sound like the update corrupted some of the files. Mines been working fine after the update.

repairing game files - > erase gw.dat and restart..... // or wipe all data and reinstall - tried both, but it didnt help me either...

ever since the update for the languages came out i have memory exceptions that make gw.exe crash - would love to know what your error was in detail .... i logged out in the evening before it came: everything was fine - and after i woke up and updated.... this happened:

*--> Crash <--*
Exception: c0000005
Memory at address f293faba could not be read
App: Gw.exe
ProgramId: 1
Build: 12317
When: 9/21/2005 22:07:11
Flags: 0x1
[...]

memory adress may vary from time to time but it's always the same error and i get it after 3 seconds to 5 minutes...........

been trying to solve this with the anet-support ( which is trying its best and replied pretty fast ) - but nothing helps.

drivers all up to date, windows as well.... prime95 blend-torture test ran for almost 7 hours -> memory is doing fine.

/beg for a new build

barton @ 200mhz x 10.5
512 mb ddram @200mhz (one broke some months ago, corsairs coming next month ^^)
leadtek a6600gt
xp pro sp2 (up2date)

// list of failed solutions //
- using diffrent drivers (tried last 6 versions of the nforce drivers as well as some 3rd party ones)
- repairing game files (2 ways to do it... tried both)
- clearing pagefile and defragging... then re-initializing page file
- defragging gw-gamefiles
- setting regional settings on my system in a way that matches gw (was a suggestion from someone, so i tried it)
- diffrent bios settings for my memory

if anyone has another idea - i am totally open for it
in case there will no way out i have to reinstall windows for a final test ...

hmm may want to try a driver cleaner program in case it's an issue of left over driver left in the system causing the problem - I use http://www.drivercleaner.net/

I would use the Nvidia 77.77 driver or jump to the beta 8x driver.. http://download.guru3d.com/detonator/

It does sound that a change to the gw engine is causing a conflict with your system. If you do reformat and install windows I would have XP sp2 handy on a cd and install it before you connect to the web.

thx for the response eternal tempest....
however i managed to work around this in another way - i remembered that i decreased my internal clock for the barton a while ago - and since it's getting colder i can go up to normal clockings again (summer in a roof-appartement made me use a real FAN to blow fresh air into my pc-case ^^)
long story short...
with fsb = memory clocking and 0.05% spread spectrum i can run the game again on this pc......

anet support was very helpful - see y'all in tyria!
