Things to do with Faction

I think now that ANet made pvpx faction permanent, more and more people are getting UAS very easily and quickly, and thus having no use for faction.

Therefore, I think it'd be a nice feature if ANet would give us new things to do with our capped faction, which frustratingly sits at 10,000, unmoving. >_<

Let's hear some creative ideas >.>

Convert it into gold. PvE players have no use for faction, converting it into gold would give them a reason to PvP

Spend it (maybe in 1k intervals) on uniquely cusomizable character/weapon/armor options.

Wrong, I'm using my Faction points to unlock hard to get skills and items upgrades.

Besides Fraction to Gold sounds pointless... I can farm 10K in two hours max, 10,000 Faction takes a bit more time and effort.

By PvE I mean people who have no PvP characters..

there are better ways to do rune/item unlocks than faction....other than skill unlocks faction is useless.

I think any kind of PvE use for faction would be good, its a shame when I see that I have so much faction but that it's completly worthless as I don't have any PvP characters. Mabey something not to valuable such as dye or minor runes.

I don't really see the problem with faction not doing anything for fully unlocked accounts. It was introduced for people to have an alternative way to unlock things, and unless you're unlocking just for the sake of unlocking (in which case PvE might be more up your alley), you have a purpose for the skills, runes and upgrades you unlocked: playing PvP without access limitations, and the enjoyment you get from that is the reward, not the faction that's now useless to you.

Sigh. You're missing the point. The discussion is about ppl getting faction, who already have everything unlocked.

How about, after you have all the upgrades unlocked, you can use like 10K Faction to buy one.

That would increase the PVE interest in PVP.

come on now, once you have UAS you dont need faction. faction was a bonus to begin with and now that you have received the bonus you want more.

Why should people be able to farm and save a ton of skill points to use when an expansion comes out, but people who pvp (which is more in the spirit of the game) should have a capped limit once they have everything?

If saving skill points is just fine to them, let use convert our faction into skill points.

I unlocked everything a month ago, in an environment much harder to do so. Now I should get nothing with faction being given out 10X as quickly?

That's crap.

It's not like we're going out of our way to 'farm' faction either, we're just doing the pvp. But if other people are getting something from it, so should we.

I would gladly spend faction on guest/guild invites. Going to xunlai storage for money is annoying.

Also, I would be extremely happy if I could just give faction to other players.

turning faction into money would be useless as gaining faction takes a lot more time than gaining money via PVE.

i would love to see ANet get creative and make a lottery type thing for faction. 500-1k faction to enter the lottery, if you win you get some kind of item. it could be totally automated as well. gold, item or rune reward (considerable ammount that is).

Ive recently came accross this same problem..I dont have any PvP characters..well I do but her name is storage chick and well you get the point of that. anyways..I have 3 other PvE characters one of which I play tombs with alot. the other 2 arent ready yet...my main PvP character is my necro and I have every skill unlocked and all but 2 elites captured and with my secondary as monk I have all the skills I need to support myself during a fight. So then what do I do with my faction? I hate having it sit there at 10k and miss out on all the other faction im gaining so I just randomly unlock runes and weapon upgrades. Ill build my faction up to 10k then go on a unlocking spree then just build up another 10k. its kind of a waste because i have no idea what kind of character I might want to make down the road...but I do think it wil help me down the road if I ever do decide to make a PvP character.

I do kind of wish I could unlock stuff for my PvE character..that would make things alot easier.

since when was PvP all about Faction?

its not, just now that everyone and their uncle can get 1-10k faction VERY easily, there seems like there should be more we can do with it than just unlock PVP only things. especially if people use their PVE for PVP. theres nothing they can do with faction.

What about PVP-specific dye? I'd be content with being able to use mixed dye on my pvp character :P

I still haven't unlocked everything on either account, so I am not in the position where I have all this faction and nothing to spend it on.

It would ONLY be for those who have unlocked everything they possibly can. Like a special edition piece (is that right?), it cannot be sold or traded or upgraded other than what you have unlocked for it with your leftover faction.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard the question asked, "What does faction do?" and when the folks hear that it is for PvP-only characters, they are very disappointed. I wonder how many are turned off when they find that out?

I'm not whining about anything either way - makes no difference to me just yet. BUT I am upset about the dearth of players in the lower levels. If everyone knew about the new uses for faction, more people would PvP and the game would grow stronger IMHO.
