Suggestion for colorblind players
Spliffa
It was brought to my attention today that the Trade Channel is very difficult, if not impossible, for color blind players to read. Is there a way to change the font colors for the channels to make them easier to read? If not, could this feature be added?

im not color blind but i just hav trouble reading the whisper messages. the green color is just bad, make the back of the message thing black or something so it is easier to read.

I usually have to open the thingy so the chat window is transparent gray in the background, in some areas. places like mineral springs is cool, but sometimes the chat is impossible to see, colorblind or not.

yea lets make the text shitbrown and vomitgreen. that should work

If you're looking solely to trade, then turn your local chat off, or look for indicator words of a trade.
Usually, the 'wtb' and 'wts' give away trade shouts.
But really... does anyone still use the trade channel to trade anymore? :|

I prefer to sell to merchant, too...
I suspect it has to do more with my carelessness about gold, though.

I also have difficulty seeing what skills the enemy is using in certain locations...like icy areas.
Wouldn't be surprised if I've missed items as their colour is camouflaged by the backdrop.
Naprius
I think Anet should provide the needy with bigger screens, so they don't miss anything.

my friend is colorblind , he cant see the red dots in small map ... ( major problem ) , they are so dark , for him they are black dots ... very hard to spot.
this kind of setings could be in custumize interface ,
let us chose some of the color ...
problem solved

To bump this thread back up to top: Please allow us to customize what colours are used for text (various types) and radar; estimates of the prevalence of colour blindness vary, with up to 8% of american males and 0.5% of females deemed to suffer from red-green colour blindess. Even a very conservative figure of 1.3% would mean that thousands of people would benefit from the ability to select the text/radar colours.

Suggestion: don't play games that are color...
Why should Guild Wars tailor to the colorblind? They have better things to do.
Besides, you can change graphics card setting to black and white if you were so inclined.

apologies for hijacking but I had not thought of this possibility until now:
In a party last nite helping a guildie thru Dragon's Lair along with some pugs, one of which might have been a color blind Necro or just someone easily transfixed by flashing colors.........throughout the Mesmer area he ate chaos storm repeatedly, never moving, insistant on casting his spells and attacking.....he died 3 times because of that as our other monk apparently wanted to be upfront to see all the action and wasn't paying much attention to party mbr's health.
My apologies to that Necro if you were or are indeed color blind.
...otherwise, when you see lil pink swirly things around you and -15, -19 drifting up on your screen and centered around your character....umm, yeah ...you need to move.

how do you die from not knowing when your being hit by something, you don't need color when your in battle it tells you the dmg your taking so that necro who kept dying from chaos storm because he was color blind doesn't say anything but that he wasn't paying attention to his life going down and didnt move out of the way.

Plus, it's not only the colorblind that that are asking for more customization.

I don't know if the OP is or not but I'm colorblind. The biggest problem I've had is distinguishing the Guild and All chat text colors. It also doesn't help that the game doesn't seem to remember to leave you in the Guild Chat when you zone to other places. Let's just say that there has been plenty of times where I'm writing messages in the All channel thinking it's in the Guild channel...it's not a big problem though, since I've adapted and I tend to double check now exactly what channel I'm in.

Personally I dont have troubles seeing anything, but this is a fantastic Idea it cant be that hard to code choosable colors and it would indeed save alot of people some trouble.

Personally, I have been asking Arenanet for a way to personalize/colorize the cursor aince early beta because it often gets lost, for me, in the general clutter of battle...
