Can Rods be Moded
NeXuS8
Wanna cuz i dont wanna buy any mods yet can Rods(One handed) be moded with upgrades or is it better to have a Staff(2 handed) rather than rod and anhk
dargon
Rods cannot be modded. That said, rod * held item can usually equal if not be better than a staff. For example, my mesmer has a collectors wand and a collectors chakram, each of with have a +20% chance of increased spell recharge, and the wand also has increased casting speed (20%), you won't get that with a staff, even with upgrades.

I enjoy the flexibility of a cane/rod/wand + offhand combo. If you find a better of either one, you can change very easily.
Like when my mesmer goes from domination/illusion to domination/inspiration, for example, she keeps the rockin' domination cane that she has, and switches out the chakram.

Ok. Even if skill recharges, skill %, and all the other percent mods stack, its not practical. Try both a one handed weapon and a extra carry item, both perfect at 20%. You get a 4% chance of stacking the attributes. It would be better IMO to have different stats at 20% each...

Yes .. but the rod + chakram gives 2 instances of 20% recharge, which a staff can't do.
