Good PCI cards

I just found out that my comp has no AGP slot which kinda made me sad. I currently don't have a good enough video card to run GW but I can get one. I am having a hard time finding any good PCI cards but I'm sure somebody knows of some. If you do know any could you tell me? Thanks in advance.

Actually I'm pretty clueless about PCI express. Can somebody tell me about it or tell me a website that has info about it.

To be honest, PCI cards aren't very good. You're better off investing in a motherboard that is compatible with all the components of your last one and moving everything over.

if you are stuck with PCI, i would suggest looking for the best ATI Radeon, preferably 9200+, that you can find. they generally play the game better than the Geforce FX cards available.

While you can still find GeForce FX 5600/5700s in PCI (best price I can find is $150 for a 5600 and $100 for 5700LE (gimped 5700)), I would recommend against actually spending the money on one. About the best thing you can find in PCI these days for an affordable price is going to be the Radeon 9250 (make sure to get one with 128-bit memory, it'll make all the difference in the world). Here's one for $56, shipped:

PCI-Express is an incompatable replacement for both AGP and PCI. Basically all you need to know is that it's not PCI-X (PCI-X is a faster variation of 'normal' PCI). PCIe 1x is about as fast as PCI, and PCIe 16x (what video cards use) is twice as fast as AGP 8x, but nothing on the market today really takes full advantage of what AGP 8x's can offer, so there's no real performance benefit from going to PCIe yet.

I currently have a PNY Nvidia FX 5500. It was the best PCI card I could find. No matter what card you get, you are still going to be limited by the fact that it is a PCI card, it sucks I know, because I’m in or was in the same shoes as you. I was so mad when I found out I had no AGP slot lol, this was back when I was a complete noob. I fell for one of those package computers. (Never buy HP lol) Anyway that 5700 is probably the best Nvidia PCI card you can find. I am sure there is a better ATI card, but I cannot install ATI products on this Hewlett Packard, so I had no chance to mess around with the two. HP has it rigged so you cannot install a ATI product in it.. So there might be a better ranking ATI card compared to a Nvidia card available. I just don’t know, because I never took time to do research and compare after finding out I couldn’t install this Radeon 9200 I had bought.

Well, you can still buy HP, but make sure you know what each peice of the system is before buying.
