The Future of GW and YOUR THOUGHTS

Hello all...

Hope gaming has been rewarding! I have still not found that Razorstone yet! ha ha..

Any way, I have been curious to read what others thought what they see in the future of GW! With any game it needs to build onto it'c core success! I believe there is plenty of room for this game to grow and keep it's players interested, intrigued and entertained!

My hopes for the future is for more depth! Yeah one can argue that there is plenty of depth to the game, but there can be a lot more!

I hope for more professions to come! I would like to see a Bard just to name one! A Shaman, or even a "Legalos" type Ranger/Hunter!

I hope for more weapons!

I hope also races will be added to the game in the future, so that there can be skill bonuses for certain professions! Like the Obvious is Elf for Ranger, etc....

Myself, I have found I am getting bored with the game, and this is always gonna happen regardless! Now I just want to to hear what other players thinks.. And read their hopes and views of the Future Of GW

Thanks guys..

Hmm this can be fun fantisizing about the next guild wars. (if there is even going to be one) Well i hope for ANET to make use of Rubies/Sapphires, Fow armor be fixed into actual better armor (stats wise), Higher levels maybe.. 1-40? That would be cool, new items, monsters, bosses, areas,Races (we need more races), basically all of that and i think that ANET will do something about all of this, hopefully. But still it would be SWEET!

1) guild hall storage .... yeh, I'll pay for it
2) get rid of the 100g to recruit someone into guild .... it's not the cost but the idea of paying anet to bring someone else into my guild. what is anet doing with all that gold?
3) better control of henchies and pets .... a simple "stay" command is needed
4) more character slots so we can play all 6 primary professions
5) purple drop with mods .... was supposed to be fixed but had two purple drops with no mods since that fix
7) a ban on trade in the !all chat channel in towns and outposts .... some way to force them to use trade channel

New Professions
New Races
Guild Hall Storage
Basic commands for henches. Stay, Follow, Attack (a better attack, that will send the fighters in while my casters remain well back without the initial agro)

Hopefully not raising the level cap. The low level cap was half my reason for buying the game, I don't want to take forever to level...if I did, I'd be playing EQ or something.

a week?

2-3 days if you hurry. (and the cap stays)

Quote:
Guild Wars, in contrast, is based around your skill as a player. Our maximum level is twenty and you hit that very quickly, after about 20-30 hours of play. ,We call that 'The Point of Ascension'. Almost all of the content in the game and in the future Chapters is only available to Ascended characters, which means we don't have to worry about providing different levels of content. All the good stuff will be available to everyone. It's not our intent to force people onto the levelling up treadmill, so the level cap in Guild Wars is almost meaningless.

More pets to charm/less skills to use them for a ranger (Who wants a skill bar full for the pet only?)
6 character slots
larger storage
Guild storage
Up the lv cap to 30 for those who have finished the game and move on to chapter 2(when it comes out)
Rain effect in Kryta... Its always snowing in the mountains, what about some rain here and there in the jungle?
Fix hench drops (they often get your quest item IE royal papers and War Plans)
Fix hench drops to only share gold, and get no other drops, or reverse it.
More armor options (maybe be able to buy armor in specific colours with extra cost)
More character customizations... weight, more hair, faces options.

Despite all that, I am still loving the game the way it is.

everyone wants Races

but what purpose would they serve, creating a new race would mean whole new storylines just for that race as they would obviosuly not come form the same area as humans, and if certain races came from the different areas, than youd be with your same race anyway so its the same as it is now, and its a waste of coding that could be spent on better proffessions adn stuff

When I bought this game it was game. No more no less. I din't wan't it to be a life extension for me like WoW just a good game that I could play when I have time and it was great, not good. Things went nice and well till Sorrows Furnace. After that everything went upside down. Prices of skills went skyhigh. Oh, sorry they haven't I just didn't have any money. I mean I have to scratch and squeeze it from the game just to have almost enough. And most important thing is I liked it. I'd have to play harder to get more money and that's it. Or is it? Now when I go out with henchies I get run over. Anihilated. Splattered. In the same missions and regions I used to fight in normally. OK maybe I'm doing it wrong. I start searching net and find out about those funny little invinci monk. I hear they were good for collecting money. Now they are just pathetic little wenches. OK I'll just get full henchie squad and go nice easy and smart at least they have never failed me. Well untill today. I was out there with a friend and full henchie team and we were dead in a blink. Arena made monsters smart but there is still same number of them as before plus I've seen that smart. I've seen Devourer cheating on distracting shot. it's simply not smart but stupid. Last week was nothing but frustration for me. I'm affraid that I'll have to stop playing this. I't not worth my nerves. I'm open to any ideas and thoughts but don't suggest me to group with others. I'we tried and decided that henchies at least follow your comands...

Guild Wars brilliant combines a number of different "games" for different people: there is the PvP game, the PvE game, the trading game, and you can unlock stuff in the game playing any one of the games. There are subPvE games like the farming game (though I cannot understand how anyone would enjoy that, there are people who do), the Running game and challenges of that, and the Role Playing potential. So there is a lot to do, and it caters to a lot of different tastes. There is very little that would be added and lots of potential harm and upsetting of balance that could come from new professions, races, or a different level cap. The level cap is perfect and has a purpose. The professions are more than sufficient for every major category, and new suggestions are just a blending of existing categories, which isn't needed because you can have two professions already. Races would not add much, and you can already pick how you look when creating your character.

The important things that should be added are:
* Dual Wielding. Warriors, rangers, and anyone else who wants to ought to be able to pick up special "off hand" weapons to deal extra damage at a sacrifice of some armor
* More skills
* More quests
* More areas
* More missions for SMALLER groups - the biggest frustration now is getting big teams together and having them work out, listen, not group out, etc.
* More arena and PvP options for SMALLER groups
* More guild functions. I don't know that a guild storage would really be good for the game economy (even more hording), but it would be nice to have a way to have guilds more involved in the PvE game, maybe with in game message boards and PvE challenges that can be lauched from the guild hall
* More PvE challenges especially suited for the professions that really shine in PvP must are neglected in PvE currently, like mesmers, rangers, and necros all to some extent
* Some PvE challenges that involve puzzle solving, complex strategy, and more traditional role playing elements, but in an area that is optional, so not everyone has to do it if they don't enjoy those activities.

-An ingame notepad
-A universal date/time system ingame
-More pets
-New creatures to slay
-Day/night cycles with alternating creature types
-Alternating creature types for every spawn

-1v1 arena
-PvE arena (wave after wave of creatures, progressively harder)
-Super drops (extremely rare but valuable with an accompanying fame/announcement system)
-More huge bosses...stronger bosses, not like the wimps we see now.
-Mythical creatures that spawn very rarely in totally random places but always drop perfect items and masses of them!
-A trade caravan turning up in major towns once a week. It would sell great items, luxuries like fireworks etc
-Invasion/weekend events
-Larger areas instead of portals everywhere...i want to feel like my character is in a world, not in a segregated levelled environment.
-Better PUG creation system
-Kick system
-Henchmen replacing dropped/kicked players
-More armours
-In the future...higher levels, < IMO. (no flaming, it's not why i'm here.)
-A deposit item/s to player system
-A "take all" box when rezoning or returning to outposts for unclaimed loot.
-More gold storage capacity
-More extreme/weird/fantastic environments with alienistic plantlife, bubbling mud pools, sulphurous vents, magical/natural healing springs (can't believe they aren't here anyway! I live next to a village called Healing which is named because the springs there were thought to have "Healing" properties in the past.)
-Houses to expand and broaden the RPG element of the game. We get our OWN instance so why not have our own house within it?
-More screening/training of idiots from missions.
-increase stack sizes from 250 to 1000
-Make runes stackable (just have a tooltip displaying the different rune values or make identical rune types the same value)
-The Orr army returns!
-New continents
-Expansion of Tyria
-Make underwater areas (magical forcefield/bubble)
-The myth/story of Gwen. Lets see some more on this and more mythical stories appear.
-Players immortalised in statues as "servants of the gods" for great achievements. These statues stay for a week then disappear.
-Greater customisation of armours. IE temporary/decaying attachments that give armour boosts or other bonuses.
-Medals
-Pet customisation or possibly pet attributes (speed, damage, armour)
-In city chasing games - Someone is "IT" and glow a funny colour - for the kids not me! lol

As for EVERY game out there it can be improved, like guildwars. Every aspect of the game can be improved. Your list is just silly and childish if you ask me.

i see guild wars being repetative, farming for crappy amounts of money and being fustrated by how poor i am, thus its near impossiable to sell ANYTHING anymore its just a mess (damn these green items). The only thing i really want is FoW armor and as far as i can see its not gonna happen for me. So i think im not gonna waste my life striving for somthing which will take all my life :S. Only thing keeping me playing guild wars is the PvP aspect, Pve, farming, sitting in Lions Arch Spamming WTS is not for me anymore. GG.

What? So people play for a week, then wait a year for the next chapter.
They then go on to finish the new chapter in another week.
What then? They wait another year, just for some stuff. I think the level cap should be raised to 40 at least.
It's not a big deal to get to level 20 anymore. It's just like "Hey, I'm level 20". "So what? You bought this a week ago, congratulations".

Also, new races... Why?
Would these races be playable? Perhaps unlocked when you ascend with a character.
I don't see it happening. I hope it doesn't.

All I really want:

1. Storage at guild hall
2. An all pve town/area. ie. More than 40 people fighting a war with ai's
3. Raise the price to guild invitation to 300 gold. Why? Keeps the guild recruting spam down, and keeps the guild a bit more safer from screwing things up.
4. A ready checklist in groups, so group leader knows when it is okay to go start a mission. Think this was mentioned in another post
5. Only selected people in guild allowed to start a gvg. Don't like members randomly trying it out on their own without knowing what to do.

I would love to see a type of 40 man run like in WoW or everquest. I would also like to see a type of voting system when you enter a mission or whatnot for leachers. The storage in the guild hall is a good idea too, oh and a white dye, theres probaly more things I could think of.

If they change level cap I'll kill someone... KEEP LVL 20!!! WE DON'T NEED A GRIND!

Guild storage works as well as new CLASSES! [like a choice to change into a 'special' type depending on class secondary and stats after ascension. You can change back of course]

A w/n with death magic can be called a Death Knight ala Warcraft or a W/E with Earth Magic can be known as a Golem Gladiator with new skills specifically designed for the upgrade...

Just do it after Ascension, nothing fancy or anything like that...

Guild Wars is priced at a comparable cost to other first-tier PC games. The subsequent chapters of Guild Wars will be comparably priced in relation to other games.

Am I required to buy the new chapters in order to continue to play Guild Wars?

No. Every purchase you make in the continuation of the Guild Wars saga will be your choice. If you purchase new chapters, you will gain access to new regions of the world, new skills and abilities, new items, new professions, and much more. And of course such a purchase will support the continued development of the game. However, if you choose not to purchase a chapter, you will still be able to play the chapters of Guild Wars that you own, and you will have common areas in which you will be able to play with and against your friends who have purchased the other chapter(s).

Will I remain competitive if I do not buy the chapters? Will I be able to compete with and against others if I have only some of the Guild Wars chapters?

Yes. Purchasing the newer chapters of Guild Wars will not make you strictly more powerful. You will have access to many more strategic options, due to the expanding nature of the skills, abilities, items and professions that you enjoy with each chapter. It would be similar to building a deck in Magic: The Gathering™: The more cards you own, the greater the number of different playing decks you can choose to play. When you buy the chapters of Guild Wars, you will acquire a larger collection of skills and abilities from which to build your skill set, but you will not gain more power. So if you purchase a chapter and your friend does not, you will still be able to play competitively against and with one another.
That should answer you bit about whether there will be more GW THIS IS THE FIRST CHAPTER how many people haven't realized that is beyond me.

I would like to see these things:

1) More variety of staffs, wands, and rods for each caster class. Way too limited now.

2) More useful skills.

3) More pet choices. If I had more pet choices I might just make a ranger.

4) More variety of armor for each class.

5) More space in storage to store for the new weapons.

6) More useful pet skills.

7) More character slots. Maybe one or two more.

8) Classes that branch into more unique classes. (For example elementalist can become wizards).

9) Maybe the new unique classes can unlock some new skills/spells.

10) More character customization. (For example more face and hair styles).

11) Maybe have a place where you can change your hair style or color.

12) Maybe have a place where you can buy/craft clothes to wear in town only.

13) Maybe have a special storage spot for armor. (For example my Mesmer, Warrior, and Elementalist has two sets of armor).

14) Have a white dye but I would call it "bleach" to dye your armor/weapons.

15) I would also like the lvl cap go to 30 or maybe even 40. That way we would have a reason to do missions/quests.

16) What about pets that you can actually put armor on. Maybe they wont die so much.

What playable races are there in Guild Wars?

In the first chapter you play characters from the human race. In subsequent chapters of Guild Wars, you may be able to play members of other races.
as for raising levels the cap is so they can spend their time on giving all of us more content rather than spreading their effort over several levels of play just so an elitest dingaholic can brag *look at my level i am better than you are and my grinding level proves it*

i am tired of going from a level 1 fireball that kills an enemy in 2-3 hits.............
to an OMG UBER LEVEL 10 fireball that kills the level 50 monster in 2-3 hits

you dont need the level increase for any other reason than bragging rights to time spent that someone else doesnt have to spare.

also there is the little matter of having to be compatable with chapter 1 people in the mingling areas which another 20 levels of attribute points would destroy completely.

if the magic ding is that important there are level grinding games all over and GW is avoiding that .

I like what you all are saying... I believe LVL 20 should have some kind of HONOR to it, but now with them Hunter Scrolls, I know some people who get to LVL 20 in a day... Also more weapons would be nice, new armor is great..

Lets hope there is more in the future of GW!

Cause I saw a commercial for Everquest on CNN here in Kuwait and it looked cool!

She can only be a millionaire in terms of cash, given that an account can only hold 1.4 million gold What she has is a way of constantly making money to cover her spending.

Guild Wars is supposed to be about just that. GUILD WARS. Though the PvE aspect is a game in itself, it is designed to help create the right conditions where people can engage in PvP and GvG, by finding items, getting money = better armour, unlocking skills, etc. You could do all this via a PvP character, but that would be incredibly boring. So it makes the experience more enjoyable.

However people often miss the point of GW. It's about FUN. Who gives a monkey's if you don't have over 500k in the bank? You can still get decent enough stuff without being uber-rich, especially now thanks to the green drops. And you have to remember that this is a VIRTUAL WORLD. When you actually start worrying about Guild Wars, that's when you've gone too far. If you don't enjoy it, don't play - there are better things you can be doing with your time.

-------

Chapter two will be a large extension of GW, more of a new game than a mere expansion. Thus as the world of GW becomes ever larger and even more depth is added, it will make a more enjoyable experience. Personally I am simply looking out for:

More professions
More skills
More weapons
A larger playing environment

I want the team to concentrate on those four areas and get them right first. Then they can worry about other bits. I couldn't care less about extra races, though it would be nice to bring them in for NPCs to add a bit more flavour.

weapons

- ones that glow, not jus the chaos ax.
- ones that drip poison
- a lightning sword
- bastard sword
- katana
- if you play neverwinternights or warcraft, you know their weapons are cooler.

lvls
goin to lvl 50 would be nice.

- insted of givin 15 atribute points for 1 quest, giv 1/lvl after lvl 30...
that quest shud giv 5 points not 15...

mounts
why is teleporting free? magic is not free. say u travel from ascalon to yaks bend...you hire a horse (for 5-100g/town...) then cut to a scene where you are riding at break neck speeds. insted of spendin so much time on silly quest cut scenes...

in warcraft3, theres games where you are riding mounts, & they are a lot of fun!
theres 1 where you race against 9 other people & you have adrenaline or a whip for a burst of speed.

- each time you go to town, you pay some 1 ( say 5-25g) to hold your backpack/weapons. check your weapons at the door policy...

i never saw a ranger with a crossbow.

- creeps should atack collectors too.

logs
for xp..., quests done....

char slots
for me, 4 is enuf but how many people wud pay 50-100k for jus 1 more slot? lol i'm sure u would have a lot of people waiting with checkbooks in hand, or bags of plat...

Farm
lots of people actualy enjoy it. its fun with a few friends....
Instance
we need non-instancing. oh max in a party is 8?
- guild invites from 100g to 50-75... spam is bad "join the ..." but 100-300g decreases the social aspect...

lvls
goin to lvl 50 would be nice.

- insted of givin 15 atribute points for 1 quest, giv 1/lvl after lvl 30...
that quest shud giv 5 points not 15...

It will be nice once chapter 2 is Out I think. recent boredom of OTHERS in the game, have made for a degradation of the quality of people to play with. its becoming very quickly unpleasant to be around some of them even in the online world. doing everything they can to ruin the game for others in any way they can, just to gain a little more amusement out of the game for them. it was never about playing for them, it was and still is about exploiting something. Be it a NPC, Scam, or being obnoxious. either way, its working. they continually ruin things like Titan quests and Hall of heroes just to do it, and screw everyone else. no other reason... So it has gotten to the point no one wants to play much anymore till the new update comes out and these fools move on and get out of the way for the rest of the legitimate players...

I forget. Really. I don't know.

1. GW needs an auction system. It takes too long to buy/sell stuff. You should be able to buy/sell without being present like EVE-online.

2. GW doesn't need higher lvls. If anything they need more attribute quests. Think about it, and additional 15, 30, or 45 attribute points would be the equivalent of a minor, major, and superior rune respectively, without the negative health.

Think about the difference of doing those two current 15 attribute quests makes. I mean, your character doesn't even become competitive in PvP until you get the full 200 att.
