I don't mind intelligent foes reacting intelligently to attacks. But I do find it odd that _every_ _single_ _creature_ knows to attack the Monk first.

Are giant scorpions really that bright?

Have human (and human-intelligence-level) foes react with that intelligence. The game makes a point of visually distinguishing characters of different classes; fine. Let intelligent foes know enough to recognize and attack casters first.

But scorpions? Elementals? How would they know who the monk is? Or _what_ a monk is?

They cut out a scene where monks used to rule the land and go around smiting everything that looked ugly because they were bored. But the surivors went in hiding, and held a grudge against all monks. And then all of a sudden a giant meteor...

Well, as the story line goes, I would think that many monks have travelled the lands in groups, and the monsters would have found it harder to kill their pray if everytime they whacked a warrior, found he's up at it again.

As why Anet wanted it like that, not so sure. But yes, it's annoying.

well I guess its only fair how be it frustrating they attack the monk. I mean come on... your a small little Skale wandering around in a river looking for something to eat... Suddenly 8 strange looking creatures walking on two legs show up and fight you. You can't flee as this group aggro's you to quickly. Your hit with hex and sever, fire rains from the sky upon you and as you try and fight back, your knocked down by a monk's banish while arrows wiz past your head...

Ok so now your in a group of friends, you see those creatures again and that pesky thing that keeps healing them all. You decide... KILL THAT THING!

sound familer? Well I always target enemy healing monsters first... with them gone, its mop up time.
