Umm this might seem like a dumb question...

But when does one leave the newbie zone?

Better yet how?

I had one character go to Chapter 2 and my wife has an account her Necro is Lvl 6 she compelted the necro quests She goes Tyral and he does not ask if she wants to forget everything to move on to Chapter 2 when the city falls.

We have spent a better part of 6 hours going

OK maybe yu have to do the quest.
We did the quests.

Dint work.

OK...
Maybe you goto clear your quests....

DInt wrk.

OK maybe lets just level to 6...

Dint work.

WTH is happening?

No she does not.
A 2nd profession is not necessary is it?

monk is usually a good choice as you can switch when you are level 20 if you want

you dont have to give up anything to get the 2nd
give it a try

Thats great...
Fricken wonderful...

It would have been a god send if this sorta retarded bug was fixed. I bet more than 1/2 the people in the game aint got a clue how to move to 2nd chapter will becme disinterested in Guild Wars.

An explaination wuld have been great in big red lettering.
And still there is no real explanation.

So meh wife wants a Pure Necro and she can not be a pure Necro I assume, or there is an abstract thing we are missing.

We went to Muhn,
Muhn says goto to BLack Blood, black blood says go back to Muhn...

THere is not a choice abut this a 2nd profession has to be chosen and this FACT is screwing up alot of people.
And all alng there is no info about moving to Chapter 2. It's like trying to uncover secret vodoo witch doctor recipe's in SOuth America.
Really had no clue there was even a Chapter 2 until I played for 2 days wndering if there was anything more to this game.

Now the very hinge to get started is freaked.

Thats pretty dumb.

No where in the manual does it even say ya start out in a newbie zone and no where that there is a 2nd a chapter.
No where in the book does it explain that ya need to be a certain level or have to have 2 classes to move to the 2nd chapter. Infact I was informed that I could have a singular class.
No where is it mentioned that Tydus is instrumental in moving characters out of the newbie land to 2nd chapter.
Nor is there any info in the books about this key aspect.
C-mon there are only 20 levels and 5 of them maybe 6 of them are in the newbie zone.
thats 1/4 of the game level and they failed ot mention this important fact?

A) stop pissing and moaning
B)You can be a singular class...(you have to take the second profession but you dont have to stick points into it now do you)
C)why wouldnt you want to take a secondary anyway? it can only help you.

I have a singular Ranger. I just took Necro as my second profession and never leveled it up. I had the same problem Asahi, but 5 seconds on these boards fixed my query. I do think they should make it more clear, but there is no mention of the searing or a second chapter either unless you read the boards, so... It was a nice surprise for me.

Hi,

Before you even grief the game, id advise any new player of any new game to first A) read the manual and B) check out websites and forums before even playing.

This is an awesome game and very well thought out.

Do ya know that you are a singular class for sure just because ya didnt level up the necro at all? Hit "H" and it will read Ranger/Necro correct?

Emm the benifit of being pure ranger or which ever class as a pure class is supposed to have benefits of being a singular class.

This is not exactly clear either.

Not griefing the game...
I am very impressed with it actually, it's smooth clean it plays the way I like. However clarification in character progress is seriously lacking. Especially concerning MUlti class and singular class.

Pointing out the stupidity of the game develpers on this aspect I think is worth chalking up to get clarification.

NOTE

when *chapters * are mentioned it is in relation to the expansions not anything in this game

the presear before the academy is only the tutorial and had no missions and only a tiny amount of the game

after the academy you have the whole game to still play

lol, fun fun fun!!!!

my advice to new players...

1) talk to ALL npcs, and read what each says.
2) treat it like a RPG, dont expect answers to be all over the place, the best part about RPGs is the role playing, and in life, you never have all the answers.
3) npcs with a big green " ! " over their head is a good thing most of the time, make sure to talk to em!!

also, fyi, i didnt have to pick a 2nd class in order to continue on to post-sear ascalon city, at least not in the BWE, maybe they have changed it, but i dont see why they would.

IMO, having a secondary profesion isnt really needed, just a good thing to have to give your character some more options.

Having a second profession is REQUIRED to go on to Post-Searing Ascalon, read Ashleigh McMahon's post which contains a link to all information about going to Post-Searing Ascalon.

Just wanted to mention that the first 6 levels and everything pre-searing is nowhere near 1/4th of the total gameplay. I would guess closer to 1/20th.

I dont know why you wouldnt want a second profession in GW. The only thing it really does is give you over 100 more skills to choose from thus making you more adverse and powerful.

Its like ordering a Porsche with no features and manual windows for the same price as a fully loaded one. Sure its a Porsche, but its fooking gimped one.

you might get even more skills, but who cares, you'll only end up using 8 of em. my w/mo is using 3 of his first skills he got in pre-searing!!! and the rest are the first few he got soon as he got to post-searing. granted, he is sword, but still, i have over 20 skills to pick from now at lvl 15, and i've been using the same 8 since lvl 6.

Hear Hear.

I am using 7 of the skills I left Pre-Sear with. Seven people!!

The only one I added was Restore Life.

I have about 30 new skills from Post-Sear to choose from, but none of them hold a flame to the first dozen or so I got while in n00bville.

I think there is something a bit off with that, doesn't anyone else?

Actually I think it is designed that way on purpose. The pre-searing skills are highly useful PvE skills, while most of the post-searing skills you'll find will only be useful for certain builds in PvP (and in some PvE cases, they just won't be as universally useful).

No no....I wouldn't even DREAm of using most of the skills I have found Post-Sear in a PvP.

If the other team knew I was taking those out with me into a PvP battle they would laugh and not even bother attacking me, the healer of the group.

I think they are seriously that out of whack. :\

If you read the manual and watched the opening movie, you would have known you were playing a "flashback" for the tutorial. If you follow the quests given to you right at the start you would have done all required to move on to the real game and known exactly how to.

And, you are correct that the manual states you can choose to be a "pure" class, it seems they changed this recently for some reason.

At Digitalblast: Some people might want to play a pure class for roleplaying purposes. I wanted to play a pure necro.

I'm not sure how anyone could be having problems with this. It's a rather simple quest chain, if you get confused this easily maybe RPGs aren't for you.
