Depends on the game, games like GW, or Tomb Raider (style), Morrowind, etc run perfect with 30-45 fps. First person shooters you want at least 60 fps due to the sheer fast pace and required response.
The human eye can't notice anything past 60 fps (but for accurate locations of players in a first person shooter you want 60+ for accuracy of firing and the cross hairs).

My average is 32 FPS for GW and Blizzard games. For First Person Shooters its always very high and I always lag in those, probaly since I havnt download the new patch for the game though.

In crowded towns, it drops to as low as 30, but averages 45.

25-35 fps on my laptop (GeForce FX Go5200) with 1400 X 1050, but sometimes dropping down to 13 fps.

I get 76 fps on my geforce 7800gtx running at 1280 x 1024 resolution, which is my max screen refresh for my monitor.
