We've all seen them dotted around but have we actually stopped to take a serious look at them?
Ascalon shows a picture of a devourer, maguuma shows a picture of a scarab and the sea to the south-east of the fire islands shows....

What is it? A giant squid or an unknown island? Just a pretty picture that a charr artist drew on out of boredom or a hint of something which we haven't yet discovered?
Hidden lands are rumoured to be in the south...could this be it, or part of it?

Am i just over speculating or being too hopeful?

No doubt something new will come in the expansion. I think it's been confirmed somewhere that it'll be south of the crystal desert, but don't take my word on it. Honestly, I can't wait till we're out of this humdrum current area

PS: Anet, you'd better bring back presearing or better next time ;P All this furnace/nuclear wasteland crap is depressing me.

I read something on guru, months ago, about a land south of the fire islands which we haven't yet discovered. I think it has something to do with the orr army which was supposed to have been defeated.

Well, we kept getting the "vs charr" mods in later zones and we were like "wth do i want with that?", so i am keeping my "vs undead/skeletons" mods for a possible return of this undead race in these supposed undiscovered lands.
I would love to test my smiting monk on some level 24 undead. When Anet, when?

I'm kinda hoping Anet or the frog give out a little more info on future updates. I have a basket load of questions for the frog but he always eludes me.

Oh well, just a squid this time...eh? squid?

Well, Cantha is South of Everything, talk to some of the canthans located throughout the game (such as in Lions arch) I think Xunlei May even be a Canthan guild.

I believe (and I hope ) that the Chapter 2 will make us visit Cantha and/or Orr, maybe after escaping from fire island, the boat will be misteriously redirected in one of that places

Yep. Orr was supposed to have been destroyed but anything can happen since it's a fantasy world.
We found a use for the "vs charr mods", now i'm saving my "vs undead" mods! It think Anet gave us a major spoiler there! lol.

And they are everywhere too. They are in Presearing and post. When i left ascalon post-searing i was happy to get away from them, as they were everywhere. I thought that i wouldn't have to fight them again, but the maguuma prooved me wrong. When i made it to the desert i thought "Yes, no more devourers", but i was wrong again. I am so grateful that they arent in the southern shiverpeaks or anywhere from ember light camp on. If they are in the expansion, i will be very disappointed with it.

Medieval mapmakers often adorned the corners of their maps with mythical beasts believed to inhabit the areas "over there" and "just beyond the horizon." Since they did not have complete knowledge of the lands they were mapping, the monsters ended up living right over the edge of explored areas on the maps. I have no doubt that to make the world map feel a bit more "authentic" this detail was "ripped off" by the designer

Anyway, that graphics isn't amazing really; it's on par with GW, certainly not much better. The land is totally devoid of detail, the textures on the ship lack detail, and the water uses different LOD levels (choppy closest to camera, smooth at a distance). Basically only the ship has any detail at all. Also notice the lack of shadows - simple omnidirectional light is used.

I'm guessing it's from a tech-demo or pre-production screenshots.

yea. it was suppose to be a joke after all. lol I came across those somewhere... I really don't remember where. I just remember noting that the pic of the ships looks similar to the ships in GW... But in any case. No they are not at all from GW in any way. Like I said I was trying to be funny, with a pirate concept...

GG: Jess Lebow, our world designer, says, "We don't want to give away too much about the upcoming story, but count on seeing landscapes that have been irrevocably changed by world events, meeting cultures only alluded to in the first installment, and facing challenges that could change the face of the world forever."

I believe that means that we get to go back to post-sear Ascalon? Maybe be able to repel anotehr big charr invasion and save Ascalon and partially rebuild it to rpetty pre-sear

. I really hope so. We sorta gotta do that with the Ascalon Titan quest but I would really like to see a BIG invasion. When I watched teh "invasion" clip after I did the pre-sear mission I laughed. Uh oh. 20 charr have come! Invasion! Really though, going back to Ascalon and doing a mission at teh Wall with 100 ir so NPCs for a REAL army with a few catapults and such, vs liek 200 charr would be fun as hell. And a lot more of an invasion. And maybe Captain Osric and all the Krytan/Ascalonites would come back and help half way through. Only problem would be lag lol.

Anyways, Im pretty sure we will get to go back, and I really hope we do.
