Chests not worth the price of Keys!!

Well so far now that I am spending 300, 600 for keys I still seem to be getting middling purple junk stuff.

Well does it get better or are the more expensive chests/keys just all crap compared to what you have to spend.

I have to admit I still do it cause I am addicted to the random chance.

Question is does it get any better or am I just throwing money away?

ive found 3 gold max fellblades, and lots of other golds from shiverpeak chests outside granite, so its worth it to me

indeed yes its worth it i have sold at least 130k worth of gold items i have gotten from shiverpeak chests outside war camp

Only do chests in areas where enemies are lvl 20 +

There have been lots of posts about chests, so I recommend you search the forum. I think that the chests in lower level areas are pretty bad, and I havn't been to the higher level areas so I can't comment about them.

I've bought and found keys to no less than a dozen South Shiverpeak chests, and haven't gotten anything worth more than the key.

in war camp i got XTREMLY great drops from chests but make sure u dont farm that spot 6 times in a row buyin keys vrytime cuz u will only crapy lil drops like me i made this mistake and only get gold items about 2/10 times.. SO EXPLORE is wat im tryin to say!!

Most chests (shiverpeak, miners, obsidian etc) I've opened have not been worth the key, but those few where I found a Sup Absorption or Vigor, have more than made up for it. Its a gamble, but the odds are in your favor overall I think.

just went through some part of SF... after an hour and longer, not a single yellow from chest. out of about 4-5 chests, and 2 human... so that is about 8-10 purple from chest... sure sux

Just treat a chest like another drop - never buy a key for it, but open any chest that you are lucky enough to find a key as a drop from an enemy. It may be true that a lot of people can make a lot of money selling their gold items at the moment, but I imagine this will be ending soon. Any player who has at least one high level character shouldn't need any longer to buy gold or purple items from other players. I'm playing a ranger at the moment, and it has at least 5 gold max damage bows found by my two higher level characters. And then I found someone at Lions trying to sell gold bows for 2K each! At some point the market for such items is bound to crash.

heck I've been paying over 1 k for keys and each item I get I sell for around 5 to 6 k... so to me. yea its worth it... But of course if you are back where you get Cheap keys for chump chests. then yea you not likly to get that great of stuff from it...

Sorrows, and Mine... yea. pretty good stuff... worth checking. but its slowly getting itself mined out... Cause its so new... But since key prices in the area jumped. its been better again...

Boss Green Weapon drops... getting OVER MINED... Its the new inflation market. But hey. so what. they are easy enogh to get really. Just ignore the silly doofs over pricing them and go get one yourself... If you want one. they are not always all they are cracked up to be... I only found 4 so far and 3 were really kind of crap, but they still sold for like 20k??? and I was like WTH? but go figure... I stoped selling them, I normally just trash em if I don't want it.

I've been giving away gold and purple items like crazy. normally in trade for keys, or cost value of key... so its been in the 1k range for the best stuff, and give away for the rest... Some I salvage for others, but not much anymore. no need. this was the purpuse after all. to kill the inflation exploited market... I think it is doing that just fine... FINALLY...

FoW chest rocks, keys costs 1,5k but drops are awesome!

If you want to spend a lot of gaming time hanging around in town spamming "WTS....." then perhaps the keys are worth the cost. If you want to play the game and just unload drops to the merchant then I don't think the keys are worth the cost.

Up till last night I would have said keys aren't worth it but I got a Superior Vigor out of a chest just outside of Droks. I usually carry 1 key for the area I'm in just for the heck of it (curiosity I guess). I get better drops from the monsters usually.

I've used 100 shiverpeak keys(I have 100 left)...so far I'm about 28,000 gold in the hole.(I bought all the keys) Couple of good unlocks but nothing that I would say makes the keys worth it. They are obviously a gold sink.

I think that there are to much purple drops, what the heck should i do with some crappy air magic puprle piece of sh!t.

I'm a necro ffs, so give me some feckin' necro items.
They shouldn't make golden items that don't do dmg, it's a waste of chests.
I just want golden or green weapons with a good bonus.

Well, I went to Underworld last night with a awesome group and we each have one key (or two for some people) Anyway, we saw bunch of chests near certain area and when each of us used the key, everyone got gold drops! Maybe this happened because most of the people in this group never made it to underworld till last night? Either way, we all got good drops. Althought i missed out on getting some ecto drops along the way but it was fun!

This guy i know got an AMAZING bow from Shiverpeak chest(which he then traded to me for fairly cheap ). Max dmg Gold Half Moon (req 8) of Defense. 15% dmg ALWAYS with -1 energy regen, and +5 Defense. This bow is possibly the best in the game, and its been price checked at over 2 million. (since the firing rate is the fastest, and it has lowest req along with maximum+% and only -1 energy regen, instead of -10 defense) This bow im not selling for people who would try to PM me . Its the only bow that i actually wouldnt trade for anything, because what would i buy with all that gold? The best bow in the game? wait...i have it already....and it was found in a chest.
