How do you check your system settings and stuff? I just need to know so I can tell if my comp can handle this game or not. Thanks.

It depends on what operating system you're using. Windows 98, ME, etc - just right click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and there should be an option for "Properties" or "System Properties" .. the Device Manager there will tell you everything that's on the computer.
In Windows XP, it'd be Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager.
Either way, GW runs well, even with very low system requirements.

For graphics card information, go to Start, then go to run, then type dxdiag. This brings up the DirectX Diagnostics Tool. Then click the Display tab. Then the section on the left will be for Device and that is your Graphics card. The one on the right is your Driver information for your card. A good thing to do would be to download the most current ones if you haven't already. Hope I helped, guys.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Apparently, if thats what your device is, then thats your card. Put the exact name of the card into a Google search or somehting. Research it. If you awant, I will. I have some knowledge and might beable to help you out. Plus, others can look for ya too, and they might already know. So, reply with it.

I believe, if possible, you should upgrade to something better. It is not very powerful and it is a bit surprising that any modern games function with it.

the shared part is the worst as it robs the system of 32 mb system ram
and the video is using slow system ram instead of fast video ram

i know this is the thing i absolutly dispise but does anyone have a friends pass that i could see if it works on my other comp. i know it has a good mempry card, but very slow internet..it would be i big help if anyone possibly could

the GW site said specifically it was made dialup friendly for non broadband people so there is a good chance for your success

I think he means graphic card is bettter. But Lovitar is right. They made it so a very large range of audiance would be able to enjo this game. If I don't find someone by the next BWE, I will give you my freind key. Considering your pretty much my friend now.

i dont know what fast transfer is, thats what i was asking, but im just gonna download the client on the other comp and log in and see if it works

That would be the thing to do considering I am not sure either. Jsut download it and see if the menu wrks for now. Sign in, hopefully it says that you hvae an account, but it will say its not active untill a BWE.

anything like a USB port on both pcs with a usb cable that would allow file transfer
if the lappy has a cd player that would copy files onto the blank cd that would be fine

it should but you will be missing all the nifty pixel and vertex shader parts of the graphics as that is direct x 7 performance but is compatable with the latest direct x

I tested and saw the DirectX cube with a green X on it every time. Is that good?

if something was wrong it would give an error message
try it and see how it works for you is all i can say
also a lot of the stuff we are downloading will be on the game discs when it comes out so load times should be reduced for all of us

ok i downloaded the client on this comp (old one) and found out my graphics card, i dont think its very good either now that i look at it, its a
Diamond S60 32MB DDR Radeon 7000PCI

it is a dx7 card that is still available new for 33 dollars at newegg.com
typical review says that it is a nice card for net surfing but will not give you gaming quality graphics

Actually there are very few manufacturers that actually make laptops ... most of them are braded, but originate from I think it is 3 factories Worldwide (well it used to be).
I actually use a laptop that was quite cheap 18 months ago but it is still a P4 3GZ laptop with 128 mb Graphics card. The specs of my laptop were not available in a Dell for around 14 months after I got mine.
Anyone looking for an inexpensive notebook may want to look at
www.sagerlaptops.com or www.pctorque.com
They also do have an "upgradeable graphics card", they may not be as "sexy" as the alienware ... but they are considerably cheaper.
Mine is quite heavy though, but is pretty much specced for gaming.
I believe the Intel roadmap has them releasing a new laptop processor "Yonah" slated for the end of 2005. Whereas duel core intel processors for the PC are expected before this.
With all of that said, laptops are still and will remain inferior to their desktop counterparts, but they are certainly able to run Guildwars with no problems.

according to a game magazine at the time it proved 32 megs of ram didnt make a gaming card
i dont think that will do well at all if at all
