i'm not so sure about that. the only time that sword would be of use would be against the skeleton warriors/rangers, the berserkers, the icehands, and the ether breakers. i don't think it would be any good against the shadows, abyssals, stalkers, skales, etc, etc. there are too many different types of monsters for any one type of slaying to be all around useful.
if you really want to get the slaying pommels, get the deathbane and pruning ones too. that way, you can switch on the fly like i've noticed nakora doing.
the spider capping service is actually a pretty good idea. i've helped several people cap spiders, and they have all offered to pay the party members. so, it's not so far fetched.
