The future of Cleave

Any ideas if Cleave will be tweaked again now that it is useless as an Elite?

I managed to test it in the Jan beta weekend and really enjoyed the skill when it was 2 Adrenaline. Now that it is 4 Adrenaline, I find myself disappointed with the skill as an Elite.

Comments?

It'll probably get tweaked again at some point, because the skill is pretty much useless now. I wouldn't expect that to happen before release, though.

Anet apparently thought it was too good at 2 Adrenaline, but the community thinks it's worthless at 4, so why not compromise on 3? Is that still imbalanced, one way or the other?

They could also tweak the added damage I'd suppose. I've been hearing people talk about Cleave not being a good elite but haven't seen any suggestions on how to fix it. Would dropping the elite tag fix the problem?

I imagine it will be tweaked before release, for better or worse.

It's be pretty 'eh' even if it wasn't elite.

3 adrenaline would be a compromise but I'm not sure that would actually make it worth an elite slot.

But it's just a bad elite now, and there are a ton of those. The only reason this one gets attention is because it used to be good. Is that enough reason to fix it?

maybe just make it a non elite and 3 adrenalin, lol. or i guess you could make it run off energy if you had to

It would be interesting if it was a skill that could use either. Energy until it charged up with adrenaline, then a "free" use (with adrenaline).

Basically how many hits you inflict to a creature in battle, it will run out overtime though

When you use a weapon to hit an enemy, basically, you'll gain adrenaline. Each hit with a weapon - or a skill that uses a weapon - gives you a "hit" of adrenaline. As long as you keep fighting, you just build up your adrenaline. All your skills have their own separate adrenaline stores - when you discharge one you don't lose adrenaline from all of them, just the one skill (Okay, when you use an adrenal skill you lose one hit's worth of adren from all your other adrenal skills. That's there to make sure that insane adrenal combos aren't too possible, but it's not like energy. You don't just have 6 adren. You have 6 adren in each of your adrenal skills). Except for some skills which do cause everything else to lose adrenaline when you use them. We call such skills "bad". Anyhow, if you stop fighting eventually your adrenaline will fade it takes something like ten to fifteen seconds before it vanishes and that just sets all your adrenal skills back to zero.

i wish they had an adrenaline bar like the enrgy and health bar, or they could make it like another game i used to play (asherons call) and have it like stamina, like you get a max of 20 stamina and once u start the fight you can use such and such stamina, and then it recharges over a time like energy, just a thought. but then again i kinda like the adren system as iut builds up whenever u hit someone or get hit by something, maybe they could work out something in between?

So close to release I don't think they'd try a new system of adrenalin.

yeah i know, i would just like to see a bar so that i could see what my adrenal status was at instead of just waiting for certain skills to light up all the way

Poor cleave...

Earlier, it'd be nifty as an elite in terms of raw dmg/sec but when they upped its adrenaline cost, it's like equal in par to Executioner's Strike [damn good move imo].

Bah... wasted elite...

But what would the bar show? You don't have an adrenaline pool that all adrenaline skills draw on like energy. (If adrenaline worked like energy, there'd be no point, they could just make all the skills energy skills -- the nifty thing about adrenaline is that it works completely different.) You don't have an "adrenal status", each individual skill has its own adrenal status, which is currently displayed by how bright or dim the skill is. You could put little bars on each skill to display their adrenal status I suppose, but I think it'd look ugly. It works fine right now as intensity rather than as a bar...

ok i see your point, and i guess i didnt realise that all your skills had their own adrenal syste, i thought it was just one big pool on which to draw on, but ty for the clarification
