How come people just don't understand the agro bubble? It seems like every time I get in a PUG the squishies run up front or up the tanks butt. Doesn't matter where I am at... UW, FoW, SF, Ascalon its all the same.

You try to tell them that it will be easier on them and everyone if they stay back and let the agro glue to the tank. But here they go again running up front and taking the agro. If your purpose is to tank then you are up front. Otherwise stay back.

hmm.
have not experienced this lately, altough i'm sure it's still out there...

maybe play pvp. you can forget the aggro circle there
Seriously, if they don't want to listen then I'm afraid you encountered a PUG from hell.
Sleep a night over it, try again tomorrow setting yourself as partyleader

Usually the only time I aggro is when the tank is an idiot, thinks he knows best, and goes the wrong damn way.

Most asked question when I'm leader of a PUG: "Don't you need another tank?"
Hell no I don't. Most tanks run in battle after battle, leaving the casters with no time to catch their breath, much less recharge skills or make sure energy is okay. A problem is that many players, tanks and casters, don't understand the aggro circle at all.

ooooooo believe me, it's still very much out there! I was doing the Ring of Fire Mission w/ my Ranger yesterday. We were doing very good 'til one of my team went afk for like a min or 2. So we moved on to our next target and he got left behind, (but he wasnt that far behind, u can still see him on the map) while we were trying to finish off the mob that we're trying to kill w/o aggroing another mob patrolling nearby, the afk'r started running towards us AGGROING another enemy patrol and lucky us, he aggroed a mob with a BOSS IN IT!!! We all died.

These "squishies" are just trying to scale the difficulty level to your level of expertise.

You should be thanking them!

My experience in Perdition Rock has been that the two mighty tanks in the group are having so much fun whacking away on a mob of Mahgo Hydras and Flesh Golems that they don't notice the two other patrols that are converging directly behind the squishies. I however, as a squishy (my E/N char), do see them and move closer to the tanks or better yet run past them so that now the tanks are between me and the beasties.

Now it's a free-for-all, tanks don't know who to fight, squishies are running around all over, ahh good times. Happened twice last night, both times managed to wipe out all the patrols with only one or two deaths in the party. Here's my question:

Why do squishies just stand there and get hit with AoE spells? Our group had a mesmer that would not move and would take 4 meteor strikes and be dead within 30 seconds of fighting a Hydra patrol. I just don't understand how someone could get that far in the game using that particularly frustrating tactic.

Well.. the monsters in PvE use the same method of just standing there. Especially in the last few missions, it's awsome

Cosigned.

No, we don't need another tank. Thanks for the suggestion though, perhaps it would be better if you started your own group. /kick

2nd most asked question, or more likely a statement: "We need another monk!"

Again, no, we don't need another monk. If you think we do then you're in the wrong group, we don't run 2 warrior 3 elem 3 monk groups around here. /kick

What's worse is if you end up with a second monk, and the first words out of him are "Get another Monk" that seriously makes me wonder about the ability of that monk.

expertise level as a leader yeah.

I saw a great remark in another thread:
"no amount of energy will save an idiot"

Well, at least you are taking a positive view on this

This guy plays a tank, I think.

Aggro circle is important in pvp, its the general range of casters. And look at the type of bow rangers are using.

You get that paradox behavior a lot.
2 persons alive: 1 monk, already in safety, waiting for things to cool down to rez the team.
1 other, being followed by mobs, with nothing else on his mind, but to lure them to the monk.
Why not just give up and die? Why screw up the only chance to complete the mission by getting the only person who can rez the team killed?

Absolutely, another reason why I make my own groups, and make heavy use of the kick button.

Though best tips for tanks - Try and get the mob to go around a corner, and stand right on that corner. Its a great way of keeping the mobs away from your casters.Using the terrain to your advantage is half the battle.

I'm playing my 4th characeter, a Warrior/Monk...I know, I know, it seems cheap, but I really wanted to hit things... and it is my 4th character! My primary is a monk. I really like the cooperative nature of monks and thought that monk secondary would allow that to happen... not really, don't have the energy for it.

1) I know that I'm often typing, trying to refine group strategy and I become a tanking butt... as was said. In a good PUG, that is okay, everyone is going slow. But I was in a PUG yesterday, where the other warriors were just racing ahead of everyone all the time. I was always brining up the rear. Funny, how I had a 10% morale boost, kept Rezzing everyone alive and we finished the mission, barely.

2) As a monk, I can heal 6 by myself, no problem, least most of the time. Healing 8 becomes a real nightmare. And I'm a good, not great, healer monk. I take orders, I try not to overheal, I've kept groups alive and I run when outnumbered and come back and rez everyone on their feet. And still, healing 8 is not easy. I love having another monk, even if it is a Smite or Prot (epeciallly Prot, where my Dwayna's kiss LEAPS in efficent, fast 5 energy heal) with a couple of heal skills to just watch our back and pick up the slack in case I'm being pursued... or several allies need help all at once.

The other day..1 idiot warrior killed the Wailing, despite the fact we told him for a whole minute not to kill it......also he was generally the one acting like Rambo and aggoring anything red...its best not res these ppl once thy die...I think Anet should have like a must do IQ quest for warriors once they reach Yak's bend.
