Most of the mesmer fow armor I saw was dyed black, it is nice but hides the details of it.
Mine is dyed gold.

Sure you have: here are my four sets of FoW armor, and only the ranger's is dyed black (and looks great, by the way, this picture doesn't do any of them justice). The monk is dyed a royal blue, the warrior is also blue, though very little of the armor dyes, and the mesmer is purple and black.
