When i say free roaming i mean not restricted by invisible walls, can run in water, swim, jump, ect ect.

No. There are invisible walls, particularly in water since there is no swimming.

You're kidding?

This is not good.

I should have played the beta a bit more before committing to this game.

You'd really consider not playing a game because you can't swim or have to use /jump to jump?

LOTS of "rpg's" wont let you jump or let you travel as far as you can see.. I'd even say most wont let you jump or move everywhere..

Sure it would be nice to be able to jump and run all over.. But its not a game breaker in my eyes.

Seriously? There are a lot of good things here...I can see that it would be great to have the freedom of movement you get from, say, oh, Morrowind, but they have to make certain restrictions to keep the map sizes and such managable...If trimming a bit off the travel area of a map means I don't suffer from lag in battle...I'd say it's a fair trade. The maps are huge, and as long as mobs can't jump over things to catch me, I won't worry about jumping over them to run away...

Frankly I don`t understand the swimming part. If your a Warrior in full armor, what kind of fool would jump off into deep water and try to swim? The invisible walls are where the deep water starts so as not to go in there, it`s not like your walking down a path and run into an invisio wall so you can`t go into the area and frankly jumping is overrated, it should have ended with the death of side-scrollers.

I noticed when I started playing it that it was very restrictive. I thought this was just because I wasn't used to it.

The fact that you have to write in "/jump" to jump is pretty lame - along with the no swimming and the invisible walls, it really tears away from the immersiveness.

It's simply not polished. I'm just annoyed because what I thought was a "new to the control" issue is actually a "design decision" issue. That bothers me.

My jaw hit the floor when you said "Not polished"

lol

Sorry 'bout that, but it seems rushed to me.

I don't want it to be bad - I mean, I just dropped $80 on it.

I'm crossing my fingers & hoping it gets a lot better over the next few months.

It had one of the most indepth, organized, focused betas out there. It definately meets a lot of peoples' standards and exceeds them too. Hopefully you will get to enjoy it for what it is. But, like any game, it can't make everyone happy.

This game has been beta tested to death. The game is more polished then any game I have ever played. Ive yet to run into a bug or any problem outside of the small server issues they had the other day.

I agree not actual jumping is a bit of a disppointment. I m not sure what it is but i just like being able to jump on these games. But to say that because its not in the game makes it rushed is absurd.

The game is incredible. Ive basically put all other games on hold since it came out. I have a level 48 Dirge on EQ2 i was trying to get to 50 and havent touched him since. I have a couple other great games I was working on including God of War and Silent Hunter 3 and both have been played once since GW went live. The game is great. It should only get better.

Wow.. just wow... play the game more and you will understand why it is not lacking any of those things you mentioned. They are not needed and once you learn the PLUSES of Guild Wars, they are not missed one bit.

jumping??? for gods sake, who cares? go outside and see how far you can jump, see if there is anywhere you can get by jumping that you couldnt by walking.

that is totally ridiculous, what next, people complaining because their character cant sleep or go to the bathroom.

Take Runescape, for an example.

You can only do little face emotions, no jumping.

Also, you can't walk in water.

It's pretty much free to roam.

Regards, Ashleigh.

You are so like ComicBookGuy from the Simpsons. Especially with the cliche name ShadowDaemon.

I am personally a tad annoyed by the "roads". Some times if you want to go down a hill which doesn't seem very steep you just can't because an invisible wall is blocking your way. You will then have to walk around and find a road down. Frankly, lot of maps are just open air mazes. A little more freedom in walking around would have been very welcome.
