how about all of these runners scamming people who pay ahead of time only to have the runner leave midway through.
if your paying a runner or taking money to run someone...don't bitch when you get ripped off. the game is about exploreing. and if this is your 2nd or 3rd char. i hope you would have made a friend or two that can help you 'run" through the areas that need to.
venting done thank you.

Being scammed is the risk you take, Eat U Alive....
...mind you, if you're going to charge 3k for a Moladune to Copperhammer run, (just like what you've been asking) you deserve to be scammed.
Even Drok runners don't even ask that much nowadays, and that's a much more difficult run than the one that you're overcharging on.

If I was running, I'd probably take the group to the portal between Snake Dance & GF and ask them to pay there. It's a good place, close enough to camp Rankor to almost guarantee the run (You'd have to be the lousiest Drok Runner to scam a group by leaving them there when it's only another minute or so to the outpost), and the passengers won't be in any position to scam the runner. If they leave, they don't get access to Rankor.
...only problem is what happens if you get some twat in the group who refuses to pay when you reach Grenths. That means the rest of the party (including the runner) may be stuck until either the runner refunds and leaves, or completes the run and risks getting scammed.

runners rule and scammers suck. Runners do it for the money, same reason farmers go through the same areas killing. Its that simple.
but there are some pretend runner/scammers out there, keep an eye out for them to and never pay up front.

whether you are confusing the game with real life or not it doesnt matter.
whether you take this game to seriously or not it doesnt matter.
i made most of my money in guild wars from droknar runing, and in order to stop all arguing and flaming, i woould ask for 1.5k at the forge.
what resulted was meeting some very nice people that kept me as their designated droknar runner and my friends list has grown over the time with well mannered gw players that i met from doing these runs.
To every person that ever scammed me, bout 1 scammer in 10 people, i would pm them and say sumtihng along the lines of, "dude its kool if u dont have the money, but why be rude about it. Just tell me you dont have it".
Some people would confess to this and i was fine with it, but the people that kept being bad manered after a msg like this, those the the people that i cannot stand.
If you need a run, make a payment deal with the runner that you both agree with and just hold your end up. I no that gw is not real life, but getting scammed isnt always the 'fun' im after when playing gw.

STOP all running services all together unless it's trusted people (example: your guildies or friends) and there would be no problem at all. There are far too many noobs that end up in droknar that BEG for money and screw teams over because they haven't gotten the right skills from trainers and quests (game skills) as well as gaming skills with their characters to be helpful in missions. By playing through the game the right way people get to try out and get to know the skills they need to have to play the droknar area. Many people's time are wasted (due to failed missions), not just the runner's time. All that real life frustration from everyone (team members AND runners) is not worth some 5k (game money) run or whatever.

This is a message board, not an AOL chatroom. As such, you have all the time necessary to articulate your posts in a coherent matter. "You" is only two more letters than "u", it won't kill you to type them. Completely illegible posts are subject to moderation - and I can't guarantee their accuracy of 'translating' the authors original message, if you get my drift. When one punctuation works (like a ?) instead of 10 (like ?!?!), use one. "

Running is the ideal service to scam. That's how scammers will see it. Most other scams require some kind of stupidity. (i.e. not checking what the item is before you trade it).
Runner gets scammed is probably hardest. Because they can refuse to run you through the last area until you pay them. If however as a runner you're stupid enough to take them almost or through the last portal and they leave, it's a bit daft.
Runnees (or whatever they'd be called) are less likely to get scammed. As long as they don't pay until right at the end. Otherwise you pay, even if you're halfway through the journey, and the runner can just map-travel right outta there.
So unless you have a neutral person who can hold the money until the journey is completed on both parts, there is a huge potential for scamming right the way through it.
Of course, all scammers suck.
Best way not to be scammed? Play the game yourself. Don't wanna do the story with more than one char? Make 3 pvp chars. Or be very, very careful when choosing a runner, and pick someone you either know in the guild (so you can beat the heck outta their rep) or someone you know in real life (so you can go round their house and yell at them )
