It's 20 and ArenaNet says they will never increase it.

According to the GW staff, they have no future plans on increasing the lvl cap as they find it unnecessary for a higher lvl cap.

I find 20 pretty low...
I mean, in a couple of months, there shall be lots of players that are 20.. And what then? Start over? Just do PvP? I don't know, but if the lvl cap stays 20 i think lots of players will leave.

I think buying an expansion should raise the lvl to 30 then the next one to 40, etc. It will shoot for more to do and accomplish then missions.

Plus people that want to get higher levels will have to buy the expansions which means more $ for them.

The game doesn't end at level 20. In fact, all expansions will be geared at level 20 characters.

So what is ArenaNet thinking?

They're not thinking that the only way to have fun in the game is to level, that's for sure.

What's fun about the game is the gameplay. It's why we play these games! Growing your character is satisfying in ways, but it's not why we play.

By adding levels, ANet is making the amount of end-game content that much smaller. By keeping max level at 20, all of the new content can be geared for that level character.

It's also possible to grow you character in other ways then levels; new items, new skills, better skills combinations, and more I'm sure.

The level 20 cap is fine because it's not really a cap. You can still find tons of new skills and equipment, as well as still earn experience which you can use to try out different character builds. They won't raise it past 20 with any expansions (at least any of the early ones) because they don't want to "force" people into buying the expansion or not be competitive in PvP.

True. But I'm playing missions right now and gaining levels w/o even realizing it. I think they are doubting the power of their audience if they don't think leveling is fun.

I hope you are all right, and I am willing to find out BUT I do not see any harm to make the next set of missions to "trick" you in gaining 10 more levels AND get better items at the same time.
