It's just a minor change which I think will benefit everybody.
What I'm suggesting is, "the person I'm whispering(clicked his name) in the chat window should be targetted in order to trade with him/her or invite him/her into the party. "
Of course, both player must be in the same town and same district to trigger that. This will make trading easier(no longer need to ask where the person is and painfully look for him/her) and joining a party will be a lot easier too (for pug's LFG shouts).

Carinae, I've noticed that the selection of names is a little odd. When you click on the toon name in chat, their name becomes a selectable field. Once you've dragged a selection block across the name (think word processing selection), you can then copy and paste.
Sometimes this selection box has worked for me without dragging the mouse around, but it consistently works with the mouse.

I'd like to see a few more additions to this in order to make chat and interaction in a crowded city much more reasonable.
1/ Right click on a name in the chat box to target that person
We would be able to easily find the person we want to trade with, rather then partying up with them so I can see the highlighted individual in the mini map. We could also quickly group people rather then filtering through a sea of blue names by eye.
( I know you can go /invite but with the presence of foregin players that have lovely yet complicated names with different spelling rules, I screw it up too frequently )
2/ Right click on a person on your screen to open a whisper to them
Just a nice handy chat feature.
3/ An additional arrow on your map pointing to the targetted individual both in cities and instances.
This might only be desirable for friendly NPCs and other PCs as you could use it to track a boss or enemy off screen. It would be so handy to find a corpse of someone who got killed 2 mins ago in a running battle so you can res them, or find the person your talking to in order to trade.
4/ Memory spots for targetting
ctrl+f1 to memorise the friendly NPC who isnt in the party list and must be kept alive and f1 to recall that target. This would beat desperately trying to click on them after they have rushed into a bunch of enemies in order to heal them, particularly when they are obscured from view or their name tag keeps jumping around.
