Targeting casters
Mor Pheen
Noob question here. When you target a caster or anyone for that matter and you see a spell underneath their health icon, what does that mean? i.e. Are they in the middle of casting the spell? Is it an enchantment? etc.

Yes it shows you what spell/enchantment they have cast.

well, IMHO mesmers are the best interrupters while archers are 2nd. you will know it when they falldown to the ground and had some sparkles above their heads.

also some of them when interrupted show some "()*&$%" thing on top of their heads. pretty funny!

When you see the little skill square start to come up, that's when you hit it with distracting shot, or savage shot, or whatever disrupter you use. It will go out, and woohoo! No more Giant Stomp for you! (Taking away Giant Stomp for 20 seconds makes me very very very happy.)
One of my most "Doh!" moments in GW was when I realized I COULD tell when someone was using a skill, and that that was the time to interrupt.

even with the ability to see the spell being caste, its still sometimes difficult.
the rangers solution to this is a nifty little spell called "concussion shot" which dazes the enemy, increasing thier caste time, a well times one will have them dazed for some time; allowing distracting shot, disrupting lunge, cholking gas, punishing shot and savage shot to take thier toll on the enemie's skill lineup.

As an aside, I'd beg to differ with the person who said rangers are the 2nd best interrupt class. Rangers are the best interruptors without question. Mesmers are the best shutdown without question. A ranger will interrupt far more than a mesmer will be able to, but the mesmer's interrupts will pack a little extra something to make that person think twice before using another spell. Notice I said spell. Mesmers, for the most part, only interrupt spells whereas ranger's interrupts work on all skills.
