Another great GW night last night!

With all the complaints found in the threads of this forum regarding how hard it is to get decent PUG groups, I thought I would contribute something positive.

Last night was a very enjoyable night, playing with almost no henchies in all of my parties. We (my wife and I) were just so lucky enough to find some great people to play with, using our mid-level characters (jungle quests). Just about everyone was playing with a lot of teamwork, a lot of patience, and a lot of humor, and we all were just enjoying the game. Only difficulty we had was with two players while doing the Galrath quest. One of them insisted on rushing and running, despite everyone else's pleas to calm down and play like a team. Fortunately he left the party midquest (I suggested very strongly that he do so) and things went great after that.

This is how GW should be!

Same here. There is goodness to be found. Both my warrior and my monk had fun in PUGs yesterday. Despite some errors, unplanned diversions from assumed strategies etc popping up on occasion - call them what you will - we simply adapted and took it in stride. None of the members leaving, calling each other names, or any of that nonsense. All it takes is working together and you make it through most of the time. Still other games went off like clockwork. Maybe it was something in the stars? lol. I wonder sometimes why this doesnt happen more often, but I love it when it works out. ^_~

Mixed PUG bag for me last night. I'm working a monk (three in my guild are doing so because none of us had one for a while and we got tired of finding monks), and got into the Surmia mission. Went well initially, until we triggered the bonus. Despite drawing lines and whatnot one of the warriors charged the ember bearers. Way before the gate opened. I did what I very rarely do - I chided them and then I dropped.

I guess I should have known this might happen when my Monk (W secondary) had to use sprint to keep up with them through the first part.

My next next group was half newbies, but they at least listened. The only direction I really gave was not to attack the ember bearers. We got through the mission and bonus fine and dandy. Still, I feel somewhat dirty for dropping from the first group, but I had limited time and knew I had to restart.

Personally, I don't mind when folks want to watch cut scenes or have questions or even make mistakes. I make them all the time. And I have res after all. It's when folks disregard simple, key directions and end up wasting a bunch of everyone else's time, including mine, that I get annoyed.

Sorry for ranting. I needed to get that off my chest.

I have ranted. We all do. I'm an idealist, so I just try hard not to.

I do wish people new to a mission would recon it with henchmen first. Even if they cannot finish it, just so they know what to expect, maybe get an idea of how or if they wish to adjust their build, and also to see the first cutscene if needed. Not as important early on, but later on its sometimes critical to skip a cutscene. Poor minion master I was with in one party last night did lose her army of some 15 or so minions because someone did not skip. People should at least know enough to skip for that circumstance, but outside of the minion master saying something about it in a pretty civil fashion, we all moved on. No ultimate harm done, but in some PUGs, that alone can unravel the whole thing.

I have had two awesome FoW groups in the past three days. Thing is in those 3 days those were they only two that made it even to the Skellies out of around 20 groups.

Last night played a 4 hour FoW run with a Warrior & a Monk missing & we still kicked major butt! The night before went in with a group lead by a Mez & we kicked major butt! Sooooo.... while I am very pleased that I got into two really fantastic groups that kicked major butt I find it awfully frustrating to go thru so many crappy groups in order to find one or two good ones.
