Buff Team or Extra Ally?

Some monks with the help of blessed siggy and a few other skills like to buff up the entire team with 1 enchantment spell.

Example: Everyone gets life bond or vital blessing or life barrier.

Do you think a healer/prot monk should better be of use, or another damage dealer? Or does the buffs (if not countered) serve the team better than someone doing a few 100's here and there, or healing?

It depends on the environment. In tombs or guild-vs-guild, I'd say that this sort of build isn't all that stellar since enchantment removal on the main target is a key part of any organized team, and since putting these enchantments back up requires close proximity. However in 4-vs-4 random or team arenas, it is certainly a viable option: the matches are much quicker (no need to get the enchant back up) and effective enchantment removal is quite rare. It is especially good in random arenas if the opposing team doesn't realize there is a monk-in-hiding.

I remember when Korea loved to cast Nature's Renewal when i just casted life bond on the entire team... but it gives twice the degen now so I can maintain some still.

I personally like healing better, since it cannot be stripped and healing usually requires less of prediction of which person is going to take damage.

When going protection, especially in nasty areas, i tend to keep aegis and RoF with signet of devotion as my primary spells. Energy is never a problem.
Only when things get tough for the team, do i start using my mend condition or shield of regeneration.

What annoys me is when a monk wastes 15 energy on an aegis that only protects for 5 seconds. Consider that only half of the attacks in that measly 5 seconds are blocked...it's pretty lame.

What i'm saying is, a buff is worth it when you are dedicated to that type of build.
