They can summon spirts to change the battle field at anytime.. which is pretty kewl, but why are rangers able to do that? Guess the GW Team wanted to make em have something other than pets and arrows.. But in a way doesn't make sense. Anyone care to explain why someone who can run through a forest and shoot with perfect aim can give everyone more hp or cut down enchants with "spirits"?

In a reality sense, doesn't make much sense.. Seems more like a Druids Job to me.

Given that they have attributes called Wilderness Survival and Beast Mastery, I'd assume that they are 'one with nature'.

Grind is subjective

learn this please

because it's all part of being closer to nature, which is what rangers are defined as in this game since there is no druid class

The Druid's Armor set should kind of give it away.

Another ranger bashing thread? In anycase spirts can be killed in a matter of seconds so they hardly change the battle field for long.

I agree, it's not realistic. The OP is entirely correct. This stupid feature made me stop playing Rangers, in fact.

Now I just play a perfectly realistic elementalist and shoot fireballs...from...my hands.

"one with nature"

its absolutely intended that rangers can change the battlefield circumstances for everyone.

I would expect a ranger/druid to be able to influence the battlefield in such a manner.

Spirits are pretty much a left over from the global nature rituals they had in the early betas. It never made a whole lot of sense... of course nothing the mesmer does really makes any sense either outside of the illusion line. Whatever. It makes enough sense to scrape by and that's really all that counts. You're just thinking too hard.

I think Ranger make totem-like creatures (those spirits) because of their Indian-like beleif in nature.

So they are more like spirit guides in indian religion than spells.
The ranger doesn't necessarily needs to be a spellcaster to use these since it's more like a spiritual bond.

(I mean if he can talk telepathically with his companion then he's probably able to comunne with natural spirits)

And yes the Druid's armor really give it away. Rangers can be ritualists.

yeah, didn't Aragorn converse with the undead? He even got them on his side. Doesn't that count? :P <jk>
