This skill is obviously not popular for either PvP or PvE. Only use is for minion masters & Pets. However, i have noticed a few things while experimenting different builds and using this skill.

Since the skill says it only heals "allied creatures" this is assumed to mean minions/pets, and NOT party members. In a PvP experiment, my warrior was using Heal Area. At which point i noticed that when i was attacking a person, and stopped to use Heal Area, the skill would heal the target Foe!!!

WTF is that all about? SO my questions are:: Does this skill currently work to heal party members (it works for henchies...)? Is the enemy healing a bug/mistake? If it heals enemies, whats the POINT of this skill, its counterproductive.

FYI:: experiment was looking for a quick self heal that does immediate hp gain in large amounts with short cooldown and caste-time. Much like sig, but not the crappy caste time or -40 armor detriments. Heal Area, COULD have been ideal, except for this enemy heal delemna, amd 10 en cost.... hmmm

Yes, Heal Area heals EVERYTHING in its area of effect. This skill heals party members, pets, minions, enemies, and npcs.

Actual skill description.

It heals AoE for large amounts in a short time with a short recharge, so they decided making it heal enemies would prevent it from being abused, I suppose.

Regardless, other than when it used to not actually heal anyone at all occasionally, it works exactly as described.

how is it useless?
that skill is great.

You heal your team and yourself with a high chance to not get interrupted and with very short recharge.

How could it be useless? the only ennemies you will heal with it are Warriors, and as a good team normally goes on ennemi Monks & Casters, I dont see how this skill could be useless.

Not to mention, it works much better for longer range players, to. My R/Mo uses Heal area all the time, I keep not only myself, my pet, and whatever spellcasters are around nice and safe while the warriors keep the CQ monsters at bay. It's certainly not a useless skill, by any means, it just needs to be used at the right time to avoid healing your enemies. Although, giving your enemy a little health boost is certainly worth it if it keeps your allies alive.

go play Dragon's Lair - you'll see that Heal Area isn't worthless. and as a monk, minion masters love me for healing all their babies with this skill.

If you want to use area healing but don't want to risk healing your enemy mobs. Try Divine Healing. its almost the same thing, but is allied only. I use that in a pinch when the party is grouped up and needs a larger party wide heal then heal party can give. I believe its max without Divine Boon is 260...

I use it with divine boon normally, and get an area effect heal for my party in the range of 250-320 per party member in group.

That with the normal Heal party+Divine boon with +150 heal on party... area the best party wide heal efects. But reserve em. they are energy heavy. 15 and 10 costs and a -1 energy regen... which can be a killer if you do not have a good necro feeding you energy with blood magics. I monk and 1 necro can pretty much make a party nearly invincable. even in the Fire island Missions... In PvE that is... in PvP forget it. this is not a good build at all, cause the min your necro sacrifices he is spiked and dead, and your 1 monk can not do these effectivly for a entire party with regular energy level... Just not workable in PvP that way. it would need to be Over the top powerfull, to work. Something like a healing ball effect...

Divine healing, like all non targeted heal spells (heal area, heal party), does not trigger boon or divine favor bonuses. It used to do it on the caster only (as if targeted on the caster) but it got changed a while ago.

divine boon works only on "Target" skills, so it wont work with heal area

you know what.. lol I never noticed that change.. I just assumed it was still there. lol OPPS... I still use boon for my other heals in a pinch though... But only when I really need it of a large boss mission or something like that... The Titan quests it was very handy to have the extra boon support... Especially the last one... Those 3 Titans bosses in that Dragon Gullet are serious Trouble... Even with a larger then normal party.

We tried it with the original 4 (forget that) then tried it with 6 from Yaks.. that was how we managed it... Same with The Defend North Kryta... Start from Temple of Ages instead of Lions Arch...

On and for Sagan sake... Save them big baddies for last. clear the area of all the smaller mobs first... Or you will get trampled...

It's either Divine boon or your divine favour bonus, maybe even both. Check the numbers, if it's the same as the amount ur boon heals, well u guessed it.

Count the amount your divine favour gives and see if that matches.

Divine favour does count for AoE heals, including heal area, heal party, etc. Divine BOON only counts for targetted spells.

Although it seems counterproductive, its extremely useful for a N/Mo minion master before they can get blood of the master or veratas sacrifice

i've seen some monks use it in pvp, like if there getting shot by a ranger or something or if they just want to stay alive, it's not always a bad skill if you want to stay alive, but i wouldn't use it it's just to risky to use when you can use a different skill thats more useful for yourself and a your party
