hey everyone ive just read another forum talking about chapter 2.. and i though i might make this forum to ask what everyone is thinking about what new classes there will be? i think a asssassin of some kind would be awesome maybe like receives double damage attacking from behind and maybe has 25% natural dodge or something.. it could be a nice balance witha warrior build.. but maybe a few things would only be for rogue primary i think maybe something like this
Attributes
Speed: primary only (to do with attacking fast and backstabbing skills)
Stealth: skills which conceal location to monsters and more attacking skills)
Dagger Mastery: using dagger skills and naturally increasing damage for them
Throwing: lol this is cheesy.. throwing knife skills, alot of fast attacking skills and disrupting, what does everyone think? would it be a good balance for chapter 2?
thanks everything
Rome.

I'm a little tired of seeing the obligatory assassin/thief/rogue/ninja class in fantasy RPGs. I found its absence from GW refreshing.
I confess to flaming everyone who brings it up in these forums - but it's getting tiring.
Please stop bringing it up.

necro isn't undead :S

by undead i mean like zombies, necros are just evil casters that mess with the dead

I'd like to see an unarmed martial artist... attributes for different martial arts styles... e.g.

juijutsu for locks, pin downs, slows
karate for damage
aikido for defense
primary attribute something based on speed providing armor

dunno... seems like it could be good, but it could also be horendously cheesy.

Let's keep these kinds of threads in the Sardelac Sanatorium, where they can happily join the hundreds of other threads on new class suggestions. On second thought, let's just add to those threads instead of starting new ones in the wrong spot.

I'm guessing that one will be a footsoldier type. Perhaps using spear, bow, and broadsword for instance. A melee debuffer type, with the option of focusing single target damage.

The other will most likely be a caster class, something like a wizard type (not elemental damage types). Should see a wide variety from this class, jack of all trades kind of thing.

But only time will tell, it'll be interesting I'm sure.

I want them to add Jedi Knights - y'know with the light sabre and all. They can use those force spells n'stuff.

or a robot class with the best armor. they can upgrade their missiles n'stuff.

how about a batman class? has a cool cape and uses stealth n'stuff.

Why not a druid type character specializing in non-bladed weapons (quarter staffs and the like), and/or hand-to-handbut with some spell-casting abilities....druids controlling foliage the way rangers control pets...Imagine having vines come up from the ground and forming a defensive sheild/wall or grabbing and slowing an opponent. Maybe a shape-shifting talent...sort of becomes "totem" animal for 60 sec or so.

A bard might be kinda cool....inspiring the group with spells wrapped in music, but handy with a crossbow.

A "lasher" character with short range weapons like flails, whips and the like...not as tough as a fighter, but harder to get close to.

If a "martial arts" character is added, it should NOT be a ninja, but something unique to the game...adding something obvious like that seems just non-creative and stupid (imho)...can't imagine a character doing martial arts in a game where you aren't able to jump (beyond emote).

a paladin-type holy warrior might swing an axe and do holy damage while doing it...

hmmmm.....

theif/assassin just doesn't seem likely given the up-front combat...not alot of stealth here...I hear some games allow temporary invisability, but I can't see this working with the balance of GW.

Cleric? maybe...very monk-like though...possibility, maybe?

Berzerker, Lycanthrope....I'm sure I'll think of more, but I really like the idea of a druid...turning the trees into alies, shelter, pets, weapons, etc...controlling a life pod or oakheart or thorn-stalker-thingamabob...has a certain appeal to the tree hugger in me...my inner lumberjack wants to be an axe-weilding warrior now....

PlanetMan - Uses the power of the earth to shape his round muscular biceps and then crushes his enemy with repetitive motions.

Ash - Uses small spheres to hold various monsters in then release them as his attack.

Faery - Magical spells eat through the oponents flesh making them vomit baby faeries which the main faery uses as his "minions".

one problem with new classes that i can forsee is that by using the two professions thing you already have access to a paladin, a blackguard and most of these 'new' ideas.

no assassins or bloody rogues.

i rather like the Lycanthrope idea. not really a profession per say but it is kinda like the shapechanger idea without insane flexability. you become a wolf (or a rat or a bear or a tiger...). no over flexability. good.

Mmhm if I see any form of ninja/thief/rogue I'm gonna puke.

I've brought this up before somewhere a while ago, but I'm hoping they add a ton of monster skills into the game and do some sort of blue mage (yes I know, no spectral agony) that can copy 'em. Yeah I know it's VERY unlikely, but it'd be cool

What about a Mimic, he doesn't acutally have any skills that do anything but copy his oppenents or allies actions.

I think we could see a potion/chemical/wizard type of class. He gathers materials from Tyria to make custom potions etc.

I think a rogue assasin type fits in very well. Just delete the entire mesmer proffesion to make room that would make me happy.

I don't really care what they put in. But I want one-handed bows. Seriously.

An alchemist? I would see greater potential if the materials were "unlocked" and the casting were based on elements mixed or combined....but the "casting" would look something like a wizard furiously mixing a martini and throwing a molitov crocktail [edited, because without the r in crocktail, it was censored]...he'd do great in PvP as opponents stopped to watch and laugh...then foom! For a more traditional RPG I think it would have some potential, but I can't see how it would work in GW without some way to augment what it "reality" would be a butt-load of preparation (for the European readers, I'm refering to a standard butt-load, not the metric butt-load, which we all know is only .67 times as large).

I've read suggestions about being able to play as some of the npc classes...ie, undead, mursaat and the like, but I think seeing these characters trying to develop as part of the story of Tyria, wandering around pre-searing Ascelon would be just plain stupid...no offense to the suggesters (after all, playing these characters would have some entertainment value, just wouldn't fit the story).

I would hate to see characters that couldn't start their lives in pre-searing Ascelon. Some might disagree, but even though it might be repetative to go through the same map for a fifth or sixth time, you wouldn't know how your new character stacked up against the previous classes without putting them through the same tests...

Not that I don't appreciate some of the humor in this thread, but I'd like to see more serious thought put to this topic. I mean some of you are just being immature and dumb...I mean really...the whole Triangle Man thing....kinda dumb and a waste of space...especially since you haven't even mentioned "Captain Rhombus and Line Boy" given their history in the great Geomet Chronicals (issue 127...episode 4), it should be noted that without Line Boy, Triangle Man would be nothing....I mean really.

While I get your attempt at humor, you fail to understand the refference, and thus lose

If there are not rogues, I will stab someone. I have yet to see a good reason against them. Ninjas? No. Those don't fit at all. Rogues? YES.

Or at least something I can feel roguish using. Rogues have virtually nothing to do with mesmers, or rangers, so don't give me that.

how about something similar to the bard, something that is nto a damage dealer, but uses lots of shouts and songs. adn the party is rewarded with moral bonuses and temporary boosts of attirbutes or soemthing like that,

we need a class that provokes team work, and incorperates other classes, so its still "guild" wars, not "Warriors, monks and Ele" wars
